hi dragon - could it be that your tour of dalmatia coast and adriatic riviera was cancelled at the last moment ?? i asked our TD early in our tour if he knew the name of your TD and he said he did not then later in our trip he approached me and said he had been told that the tour following ours had been cancelled ????? as it was also a guaranteed departure that seemed wrong to me so i hope you did still do your tour and that you both enjoyed it as much as we did. what a beautiful part of the world (except for the graffiti in zagreb). i'll bet you didn't find my message in the visitors book at kumrovec !! i also wrote out a note to you and sandra to leave at jezera at plitvice and found it in my bag halfway to ljubljana but hello anyway.
we had a horror trip home (took 2+ 1/2 days from vienna before we reached sydney minus our luggage). they are still searching for it two days later.
I noticed the graffiti in Zagreb, too, especially the rock that had ZG on it. I was thinking someone else had my initials, but, of course, then realized that it is the abbreviation for Zagreb - I saw it on all the licence plates after that.
We enjoyed the trip very much. Are you going to give us a tour tale or photos when you have recovered?
recovery - oh how nice that would be !!! still waking up at 1 a.m. every morning and falling asleep at 8 p.m. it takes us longer each time we travel to recover a normal sleep pattern. (we did take 2 1/2 days to get home this time due to british airways messing up our flights so we feel this may have made the jetlag situation worse.)
i am hopeless with the photo gallery side of things but we did have a wonderful TD named louis oroschin and driver named john. these two gentlemen were among the very best we have ever experienced in nine coach tours and they really enhanced our enjoyment of this tour. we had come directly off a best of france with trafalgar and that had been a very hectic itinerary and a cramped, crowded coach so our legroom and slightly more leisurely days with insight were a welcome change. a great group and a lovely tour all round. for us the highlights were the optional cruise and lunch at dubrovnik with captain nimo, the plitvice lakes walk and postjana caves in ljubljana. loved dubrovnik as expected but huge crowds with three massive super liners in port so not so pleasant to wander around but still it lived up to expectations. what a fabulous coastline to drive down and we were lucky enough to be on the correct side of the coach to really get the full effect. we also enjoyod the optional into montenegro but the cheese and ham sandwich lunch was hysterical. talk about push it down with a stick !!!! nice cows though !
we DID love this tour and found the people all nice to deal with especially the cafe owners in cavtat - super service and lovely food but as always, so glad to be home in this wonderful country.
Di, our tour did run as planned and there were no problems other than a change of hotel in Dubrovnik to the President rather than staying at Cavtat. However Insight had advised me of the change around mid May (together with the name of our TD) so there were no surprises in that.
Just heading off to bed now for some shuteye so I will catch up with you when I am more awake.
Bye for now.
