With the pixel resolution of digital cameras increasing with each new model, this is a problem that many posters of photos to this Bulletin Board will encounter. For those with a proficiency in software applications like PhotoShop, Picasa, PaintShop Pro, The Gimp, ULead Photo Impact, ACDSee Photo Editor, IrfanView or similar applications, changing the size of each shot is not a difficult task. It is however somewhat time consuming and you need to be very careful that you work with copies of your photos, NOT the originals, because the changes that you will make can be irreversible. For those using Windows XP, I can offer a very simple solution. Microsoft provide a free Windows XP download called the "Image Resizer". Information about this utility is available at: Resize digital pictures quickly. The tool can be downloaded at: download "Image Resizer". Once the software is installed, right clicking on a photo file and clicking on the option in the displayed menu: "Resize Pictures" brings up the following menu: I usually choose: "Large (fits a 1024 x 768 screen)" and this automatically produces a new, resized copy of the photo. Best of all, the new resized photo files are only a few hundred kilobytes compared with a few thousand kilobytes of the original photo. I can easily fit 12 of these resized photos into a BB photo album. There's information on another very useful free Microsoft photo tool at: Microsoft Pro Photo Tools 2. Microsoft Pro Photo Tools provides a set of tools for photographers to perform various tasks with their images—including RAW captures. The current version enables you to quickly geotag your photos, view and edit metadata, and more, leveraging the power of Windows and Microsoft Live Local. phil This message has been edited. Hi janelle,
I'm not sure what you mean by "link my photos together". You have recently posted the following photo albums on the BB:
If you are referring to the fact that the various albums you have posted will tend to move about as people post messages to them, then there is nothing you can do. This is how Bulletin Boards operate. If you wish to make it easy for people in future to quickly find ALL of your albums related to your European Classic tour, one suggestion would be to publish a brief tour journal in which you include links to the five albums, just as I have done in this post. I would then include a link to your journal in the "Where are all the tales?" topic. Alternatively, you need do nothing and within the next few days, BB member Owen will add links to your photo albums in the "Where are ALL the Photos & Videos?" topic. phil This message has been edited. Linda,
there is a link to "How do I post photos (from BB photo albums) in Tour Journals?" at the foot of my initial post to this topic. If that's not clear enough, just ask and I'll try to answer. phil This message has been edited. Last edited by: phil, |

Linda,
here is the Topic Edit screen for my last post to this topic. It clearly shows the menu I am talking about. Can you not see it? I use Windows XP with Internet Explorer 7 on my desktop PC and Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 8 on my laptop. phil edit_screen.jpg (103 KB, 30 downloads) |

Hi Phil
No I cant see it in your message - not on my home or work PC - just a box with a red x. I am running XP but I'm not sure on the other stuff. I get this tool bar if I'm posting a message like now but not in my edit screen of my photoshow - am I in the wrong place? Linda |
