My husband and I are going on the Splendours of Egypt tour Nov. 9th.
I see that it is a DEF definite departure now. We are arriving in Cairo a couple of days ahead of time and would love some suggestions on what to do.

My son and I are going on the Splendours of Egypt in January. He is 19 and has been fascinated by all things 'Egyptian' for as long as he can remember. I, too, would appreciate any suggestions regarding the tour.

First off - you are going to have the most amazing and fantastic trip. I did Splendours last June and words cannot describe the enjoyment and happiness I felt.

I suggest you visit the museum as, although the museum is included in the tour, you are not there long enough to appreciate the wonders you will see. Do visit the Mummys (an extra charge is involved but well worth it). Trying to see the treasures of Tutenkhamun quickly is very difficult. The Khan e Khali bazaar is also well worth a visit and don't forget your bargaining skills.

Do a search on the BB for Splendours - there is a wealth of information and several tour tales that you should find very interesting and informative.

Look forward to your tour and may you enjoy Egypt as much as I did.

Happy travelling.

Hi Kathie, we are going on the Splendor's of Egypt at the same time. We're getting into Cairo on Monday and taking the side trip to Alexandria on Tuesday. The side trip is through Insight and is surprisingly inexpensive. We'll see you in Cairo.

We were hoping to go to Alexandria too. Our TA said we had to book when we arrived. I will give her a call tomorrow and check on that.
I haven't been able to get on a good computer so I did not see where you were from. We are from Calgary Alberta Canada. We are going on this trip to celebrate my 50th birthday. We are getting very excited.
Where are you from? Any special occasion?

G'day fellow Splendours of Egypt tourists,

I'm doing the Nov 9th tour (imediately following the Jordan Experience) & want to do the Abu Simbal option. I note that on the Insight brochure it is stated there must be at least 2 people wanting to do it for it to happen, so Idjm1945 @hotmail.com hope some one else wants to do it too as I'm solo.

Denis,
You won't be alone for Abu Simbel !! We are taking that one for sure. From everything that I have read, it is not to be missed. I will look forward to hearing about Jordan. I would have loved to have added that tour on as well. We arrive in Cairo on Sunday Nov. 8th. We are going to explore on Monday (I really want to go to the bazar and see some of the other things in Cairo. Tuesday we are hoping to go to Alexandria.
Do you arrive in Cairo early as well?

Denis do not worry about the Abu Simbal option not running. It think it must be one of Insight's most popular options. You'll find most, if not all of your tour, will take this option.

Abu Simbal had the most vibrant colours inside and when you see the two temples it's hard to believe it was moved 60 metres. It looks like it was built there. You will be amazed. There is also the beautiful outlook of Lake Nasser.

I'm hoping to do Jordan next year and will be interested in reading your experiences.

Kathie B I also celebrated my 50th birthday by travelling to Egypt. Have a very happy birthday and enjoy enjoy enjoy.

Happy travelling.
