I had no problem using Euro in Lucerne.

I used Euro in Switzerland in 2008. The shops took the Euro but often give change in Swiss Francs. There are ATM machines everywhere so getting Euro or Swiss Franks is not a problem.

Hallo! I will be joining the Winter Wonderland Dec. 12 departure. I can't wait to leave. I've never been to Germany or Austria and I was only in Switzerland for a day so I'm eager to experience this part of the world and meet new friends as well! (I've travelled w/ Insight before and they're awesome!)

Hi Dina,
You will have a fabulous time. This is a really great tour. Hopefully you will get some snow to make it all the more a winter wonderland. My daughter and I did this tour last year and had a grat time so if I can help you with any info please ask.

Cheers Denise

Thanks so much. Can you give me an idea of how cold and how often you were layered or bulked up in a coat? I am bringing a long sweater and a long warm coat but I want to make sure I have adequate coverings. Smiler

Dina, I would be thinking it may be just a little colder when you start the tour as we finished on the 7th of December.Your coat will be fine pack a couple of scarves, Pashmina ones are good.Gloves will be a necessity and a beanie or warm hat. I am a bit of a cold fish so I wore thermals as well as a long sleeved top and fleecy sweater under my jacket. You can always peel layers off if you get too warm. good idea to waterproof your shoes too.

Cheers Denise

I went on the Winder Wonderland tour in 2008. I thought it would be very cold and I over packed. My regular L.L. Bean Fall/Winter jacket, a scarf, woolen cap and gloves is all I needed. It was colder when I left New Jersey than during the entire tour. I brought all sorts of insulated underwear which I never used.
Last year I went alone as a single. This year I am doing the tour again with a friend. any questions please email me at joepatwick@aol. com
