Another thought about money. Try and changed your bills (usually 20, 50 and 100) for smaller denominations at the hotel asap. A lot of vendors and some storeowners will tell you they either don't have change or they will have to send someone out with your money to get change. Don't panic in this situation. You will eventually get it back. It is just a ploy to keep you in the store longer and hopefully buy something with the difference they owe you. I had to get a bit vocal (but not angry) in one store after asking several times when the money was coming back. The storeowner, miraculously produced the change from his pocketWink

Important to remember, remain friendly, respectful AND smile. This seemed to be important regardless of where we went. All part of the game.

Paul: we are considering one of the Egypt tours for next year. Which one did you do?

We took the Splendours tour. As this is the first tour we have ever taken (normally plan our own trips), we were very pleased. We stayed at the Marriot in Cairo and sailed on the Giselle. The boat is older and probably could use a bit of a 'spruce up' but it is clean and comfortable nevertheless. The crew service was first rate.
