My wife and I are booked to go on a Treasures of Turkey tour, departing July 19. One of the reasons we selected Insight tours was that the advertising in the brochure says – “ -- on an Insight luxury touring coach, we allow just 40 guests and have seats to match, giving your legs the extra space they deserve”.

I note now in the documentation that in Turkey, the Insight tour is operated by Marvel Tours. Do their coaches, not being Insight coaches, have the extra space, giving the extra legroom?? And will the touring party be restricted to just 40 guests??

Any info about the coaches would be appreciated.

I went on the Treasures of Turkey tour, nearly 2 years ago. It was run by a different company, not Marvel tours.
The bus was different from the ones used in Europe but was comfortable. I did not count the seats but there were only about 40 seats and there was plenty of legroom, I am fairly tall. There was a cooler with water bottles by the back entrance, which we could buy for a reasonable fee.

As far as I know, Insight's tours in Turkey have always been conducted by MEPTUR, a Turkish company based in Istanbul. I believe that Marvel Tours (Büyükdere Cad. 26/17 Mecidiyeköy 34394 Istanbul Turkey) is a division of MEPTUR and that division operates Insight's tours. What could be confusing is that there is an Australian tour operator with a similar name.

My wife travelled for the second time on the Treasures of Turkey tour last year (see: Weblinks: Treasures of Turkey tour) and the coach was set up in a manner similar to the Insight coach she travelled on in Dalmatia, immediately after her Turkey tour, other than the fact (as Marie56 noted) that there was a cooler with water bottles by the back entrance.

Incidentally, Insight do not have any coaches: they hire them from specialist coach companies. Sometimes they will be branded as "Insight" and other times they may be branded with a coach company name.

Phil, you are right it was Meptur that operated the tour in 2007. It was excellent.
