I'm going on "Jewels", and wonder whether anyone has had problems exchanging Canadian dollars into Egyptian pounds at the Marriott. (I'm aware that the hotel has ATMs as well as a bank).

I can't imagine there would be any problems. We exchanged Australia Dollars for Egyptian pounds on our first day because the ATM machine was down for maintenance. From then on we used our Visa Debit card.

We are also joining Jewels on Nov 3. I found the "Tour Tales" site full of tremendously useful info such as getting visa at airport, exchanging money at hotel(best rates), tipping and lots of other good stuff. Looking forward to meeting the Canadian West Coast!

We are from BC and had no problems exchanging our canadian money in to egyptian pounds. Somewhere along our tour the guide also stopped at a bank so people could get more money if needed.

Paul, I read your post-trip comments when they were posted and found them full of useful and essential details, thank you for writing them so promptly.
Before booking this particular trip, and ever since, I've been gathering info from all the wonderful Egypt tour tales and discussions here as well as on the TT board. When we return I'll also write about our tour, and perhaps be able to add some new hints and tips for future travellers to Egypt.
