We had booked a tour in Jordan with another company and Egypt with Insight.

The other company has cancelled the rest of their trips to Jordan for this year but we have been fortunate in being able to join Insight's Jordan tour before the Grand Tour of Egypt in November this year.

We arrive in Amman two days before the tour commences and have been trying establish if there are places of note that could be visited in one day from Amman.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thank you
Betty

The Dead Sea in about 50 km from Amman so you could visit that in a day. The driver who met us at the airport offered to take us there.

The Jewels and Costumes Museum is in the Roman Theatre near the Citadel.

When you travel, remember that a foreign country is not designed to make you comfortable. It is designed to make its own people comfortable.

I read recently that there is a Hop-on-Hop-off bus in Amman. It may be worth it to get an overview of the city. We are off to Jordan and Egypt in November and really looking forward to it.
Happy travels

Thanks Tangata and mandyg for your great suggestions.

There is also a Jabal Amman 1st Circle Walking trail that looks interesting.

Cheers

We are doing Egypt and Jordan in November also.We have 2 extra days in Cairo prior to tour. Do you have any suggestions on what to see without doubling up with our Insight tour?

We start our Jordan leg on the 13th Nov. and we have 1 extra day in Amman at the end and hope to visit Dead Sea and Baptism site in a combined tour.

Good morning Marg Ann.

We have started a list of places we want to visit on the two days we have in Cairo before our tour commences.

So far we have listed:

Coptic Cairo, Pharaonic Village and Khan El Khalili.

We have an extra day after the tour and intend going back to the Egyptian Museum as we are sure we will not have sufficient time there with the tour.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
Betty

We are a group of 4 from Virginia who will be enjoying the Egypt and Jordan combined tour commencing November 18,arriving Cairo the 19th,concluding Amman December 1. I wonder if we may coincide with any of Betty's or Marg Ann's trip?
The combined tour is new this year, and I am wondering if any of you has read of this experience thus far? Different tour directors for the respective Egyptian and Jordanian portions of the tour?
We are thinking of spending the day Dec. 1 after conclusion with Insight going down to the Dead Sea for a day of relaxation and spa at one of the luxury hotels there, before a midnight flight back home. Anyone with experience here? Should we arrange something through Insight, or independently through the Dead Sea hotel for a day pass? Should we go back to Amman for the Insight transfer to the airport, or is it quicker/easier to arrange a cab or limo directly from the Dead Sea hotel to the airport? We are looking for the most relaxing experience before our long return flight? Thanks.
