I have read answers on what to wear appreciate that. I will be travelling in early november -7 days on the nile cruise tour "Elegance on the Nile"- Do we need to have warm clothes or will cargo pants/long sleeved tops or short sleevs with jackets do; Do we need jumpers? I am taking skirts/tops/shawls/for evening wear as my mum went on the Alaska trip and people did get dressed up on that tour
My husband will be taking long sleeved shirts and jeans plus dress pants. I read about laundry being quick - thanks. Do we need a day pack such as "pacsafe daysafe 100" rather than a ordanary day pack. Thanking you |

Hi Shukla,
When I went on the Nile cruise 15 year ago, no one dressed up. It's not like some of the large ship cruises where half your luggage is for dressy clothes. All that is required is that you not wear shorts to dinner. Cargo pants and jeans are fine. I like to save as much room in my luggage as possible for souvenirs, so I don't take a stitch of dressy clothes with me and haven't needed it. When I went to Egypt, it was January and it was warm enough then for shorts and t-shirts. A light jacket or sweatshirt should be all you'll need for a cool desert evening. I don't know what a jumper is, so I can't say there. The only thing that might be a problem is tank tops and sleeveless shirts/dresses when you visit a Mosque or Church, but they usually have scarves at the entrance. I don't wear sleeveless so I got along fine wearing only t-shirts and jeans on my time in Egypt (I didn't have shorts with me....long story You don't need to waste a lot of money on a security back pack. Egypt is quite safe and you won't have a problem as long as you take usual precautions. I just carry a camera bag and have my passport and money in a fanny pack. I don't recall ever having to worry about pick pockets there like I did in Prague (you could see them everywhere at the touristy areas in Prague). The safe in the hotels are very secure and you can leave stuff on the bus while visiting sites as the bus is locked and the driver stays with the bus or nearby. Check the other thread called Land of the Prophets. I just made a nice long response to similar questions and more that might be helpful. I think a jumper is what we call a sweater.

Weatherwise it will be warm during the day but cool at night. Please don't feel you will need to dress for dinner. The only requirement we had last year was that men were requested to wear long pants to dinner. My husband wore long shorts and polo shirts every day and took just 1 pair of jeans and 1 pair of 'nice' pants. This was more than sufficient and we also travelled to Italy and France. Have a truly wonderful trip. Happy travelling. |
