Halp!

I'm trying to decide between Trafalgar's Wonders of Egypt and Insights Israel/Jordan combo.

I've read some discouraging posts about Insight's service in Israel and Jordan. Has it improved? Is it worth the lesser service just to see the countries??

I was in Egypt 15 years ago, so it's a tough decision and I have till Monday to decide. I want to go at the end of next month.

Suggestions/advice/tips?

thx

Smiler

Q: What exact tour do you mean for "Insight Israel/Jordan combo"?

Insight has separate tours to each that end/begin so that you can easily hop from one tour to the next and do them in either order (ie Israel/Jordan or Jordan/Israel).

Hi
The Egypt trip is good - I had done this one in 2007 and other recent fellow travellers said it was good too. I have just returned from 5 weeks overseas and did the insight 5 day Jordan tour. They now have a new agency doing that tour and they were excellent. Hotels first class and the tour guide fantastic. Only drawback was the amount of time travelling on the bus day 2, should have been done in 2 days not 1. Petra although hot was awwesome.

I am so glad to hear that they have changed their Jordan "connection". Bell Tours were hopeless when we went in 2008 but the Jordanian people, Jerash and Petra were outstanding.

Thanks Cat. Still trying to decide. Smiler

Julie, that is exactly what I was wondering about and props up the Israel/Jordan choice considerably.

Depending on which flight I have from Tel Aviv to Amman, I might have up to two days free in Amman. Is there much to see around the hotel there for a single female traveler? (I've heard it's safe for a single female (mid-40s) to wander)

thx

Unfortunately I arrived late on the first night of the tour and left on the last day. Although my flight was not till the evening - would you believe it poured rain the whole morning so didn't venture out. The Jordian people are lovely and am sure at the hotel they would be more than happy to help as they all speak very good English.

Thanks Julie. I can sympathize with you on the rain part. On the TT Bohemian Highlights last June, it rained for more than half the tour.

No. It poured!!!

LOL.

I'm considering a half day trip to the Dead Sea from Amman since our time there in Isreal might be limited. The rest of the time I can walk the streets and shop.
