Is there any way to figure out which ship you are on for the splendours of Egypt tour? I was able to figure out our room years ago when we went on a large cruise ship, but I can't even figure out which ship we will be on for the Nile cruise.
The travel Doc's say SS Miriam, SS Giselle or similar.
Does Insight get the nicest rooms??

My wife and I did the Splendours tour in January 08 (I posted a 'tour tale'). We did not find out which boat we would be on (the Giselle) till the morning we left Cairo for Luxor.

The Giselle and Miriam are sister ships so I assume the accommodations are the same. I know the rooms on the Giselle are not much different from each other.

Insight, Trafalgar and Globus all had passengers on our boat. I don't think any one company receives preferential treatment on room allocation.

Enjoy your tour...you will be amazed.

I have been on Spring tours website. They seem to have the most up to date pictures of both ships. They do look very similar.
Do the windows open? The rooms look really big in the pictures but I think it might be the camera lens Smiler
I am sure I read your tour tale. I have read them all. Getting very excited.

Hi, I've taken the Splendours tour twice, 10 years apart and was on the Giselle both times. I actually contacted Insight who inturn contacted Spring Tours and they got back to me with the info very quickly.

The cruisers are basically all the same as they must "link up" side by side at the docks. You'll see this, it's pretty cool. When we first met our tour guide at the hotel before setting out I told him we were on the Giselle before, what room etc. and lo and behold he arranged for us to have the same room. As for a real Kicker, the captain was the same captain as in 2000! I recognized him and his assistant remembered me! (or he was cute enough to say so, LOL!)

The rooms were pretty roomy, I was surprised the first time, we didn't feel squished, and yes the windows do open, it's wonderful having them open at night as you're sailing down the Nile. (God, I want to go back now so bad!).

Keep asking your questions, there's a lot of us here who've gone and will give you lots of info and help.

Happy Travels!

We are booked (I think) to take the day trip to Alexandria on the Tuesday before the tour starts.
Has anyone done this trip?

I would love to go to the Bazar Khan El Khakil (bad spelling). Has anyone been on their own? We would probably go on the Monday before the tour starts or on the Saturday at the end.

Is insight really strict on their 1 suitcase rule for this tour? It seems a little strange as you are not on a coach and changing hotels daily. I thought maybe I would bring one inside the other and store one at the Marriott while we are on the Nile cruise.
