My husband and I are leaving on the grand Tour of Eygpt in three weeks. I am really having trouble packing for this trip. Is the advice we have been getting correct? As the general rule - no tank tops, no sleeveless t-shirts or sleeveless dresses, no shorts - anywhere. On the boat, people "dress" for dinner. Suit jackets for men and more dressy wear for women?
Also, are there opportunities to have clothes landered/cleaning along the way.?

Any advice you could provide would be much appreciated!!!! Confused

No tank tops except on the boats- sleeveless [but not with a plunging neckline] is fine except in the mosques.
Most women wore capris each day with slacks/jeans at night.
There is a lot of advice on this board if you read Tour Tales and topics listed in this section.
You can have laundry done fairly cheaply on the boats.
My husband has never yet taken a jacket on any tour, nor a tie. He does often wear a long sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up but that's his casual dress along with polo shirts.
I have never taken dressy clothes on any tour. The closest I get is a pair of black slacks at night and an overshirt over a black t-shirt. I take no jewellery but often pick up something along the way eg Nubian necklaces probably costing less than $20.

I agree with Bellbird - the only proviso on the cruise was that men were asked to wear long pants to dinner.

As Bellbird wrote laundry is very cheap and quick on the cruise. We would leave our washing in the morning and it would be returned the next afternoon folded but not pressed.

I hope you find Egypt as wonderful and fascinating as I did.

Happy travelling.

As a male I wore "cargo shorts" for most of the trip only wearing a pair of jeans or slacks at night for dinner. I took a small selection of Polo shirts and a couple of easy wash short sleeved shirts. At no time did I ever see any male wear a coat and tie. You can wander over the boat wearing as little or as much as you like. As for washing you won't find a better or cheaper service anywhere else in the world.

I loved Egypt and the "next" Lotto win will see me back there in a heart-beat. Enjoy your trip. You have a wealth of WOW's" to come.
