How about "the Sound of Music Tour" with Insight or in the evening, a little singalong at the dinner show with these all time favorites "Edelweiss".....
Anyway, do not miss the "Eagles Nest", a spectacular Alpine scenery, DO NOT MISS IT!!!

I don't know about the waltz, but I've seen Austrians dance the Polka! Absolutely terrifying, something like a cavalry charge. Wink


thanks for your commentary - yes indeed the Polka looks wild, to add to your impression you should come back in winter and attend a ball in Vienna: at midnight, there is the Midnight Quadrille, a sort of cavalry attack in the middle of the dance floor performed in longtails and long gowns.....see you there, Insight has great Winter Tours, you can book right now.....

it is a great experience to live like the locals and enjoy their hospitality and as a guest to live by the local habits - you earn a new dimension of understanding a foreign culture!

Even though I am not going on any of your lovely tours Frowner (yet!) I have been following all your reports over the last few weeks and I am enjoying them very much.
Vienna is a beautiful city and I have only been there once so will have to come back of course!
Loved the music concert, ate under the Rathaus and adored Klimt at the Belvedere.

thanks for adding your comment, I am so happy you took back lovely memories of my city - whenever you are planning to come back, let me know, it will be my pleasure to help in planning....

just came back from the Vienna Woods today. an absolute must on your agenda, Heiligenkreuz Monastery (see the charts for their music "Chants" Gregorian chants by the monks) dating back to 1133 A.D., lovely surroundings where Beethoven used to walk in the fresh air....

today I tried a new highlight: gingerbread chocolate, delicious: go to Metzger on Stephansplatz and ask for "Wiener Konfekt"
