Hi Janet, At the end of all Insight tours they hand out questionaires for you to fill in. We addressed some of our concerns on this. We cannot remember his name, he told us once and it was an unusual name. There wasn't a lot of communication between us and he didn't try to clarify his name to us as other TD's have.
What happened to us on our tour is that the TD didn't point out plainly in christian terms the significance of many things. In the Holy Sepulchre church I would suggest you find out if there is going to be enough time to line up for the tomb and if not, go there first. We would rather have done that.
The little booklet I suggested earlier was a big help. It is spiral backed and about 9cm x 12 cm so small and easy to use. It is on sale lots of places for around $15 AUS. Well worth it if you have a TD like ours. Have a wonderful time! John/Joy

Thank you so much for your suggestions. This will be my first land tour in many, many years, we are "cruise people", so your help is very valuable to us. I will look for that book. We are also Roman Catholics and the main purpose of this trip is to be in the land of Jesus and to learn as much as possible about the area. I wasn't aware that we could go to the Tomb first on our own. I will certainly ask our tour director if that is a planned stop. Thanks again for taking to time to answer my questions. Janet

We purchased cheaply a small book, Ín the footsteps of Jesus Christ' which gave us information about the sites we were going to.

Hi Again John/Joy! Can you give me the author of the book? I'm looking to purchase it online before I leave.
Thanks, PLT

Hi Janet sand PLT, First Janet - you have chosen well to do a tour with Insight, in our experience they are one of the best, apart from our experience in Israel. The tomb of Jesus is in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and you will be taken there near the end of your tour. The final stations of the cross are inside the church. When you enter the church I would suggest asking the guide then if you will have time to line up, to us it would have been the most important experience of all. Another suggestion is if you have access to the catholic chanel EWTN and watch the Holy Land Rosary. It is filmed in a lot of the places you will be going to and you can become a little familiar with them before going.

PLT -I have looked on google and also ebay for the book but didn't find it. It is sold at a lot of tourist shops in Israel. Look where the books are, but don't forget it is a small book, although it has 71 pages. It sells for 48 israelie shekles.

If either of you would like I can scan the cover and the inside information and email it to you. Send your email to twotravellers8.
The book is called - 'In the footsteps of Jesus Christ' The writer and editor is Uzi Tauber. Published by Tour Card Israel.

Once again Joy, thank you so much for your help. I've been unable to find that book, even at a very large Christian Book Store. I guess I'll wait until we get to Israel to find it. If you can scan the cover I would appreciate it, it would sure make it easier to spot if I knew what it looked like. I am familiar with EWTN, but unfortunately we no longer get that station. My email address is jozolins@excite.com Thanks again for all of your help. Janet

Joy, A few more questions if I may....
We are planning on arriving a day prior to the tour and are hoping to see a few things that we are interested in but do not seem to be on the tour. Perhaps you can let me know if you saw any of the following on the tour: Tel Aviv University, The Church of the Transfiguration; The Church of the Multiplication, or the Church of the Primacy of St. Peter, or the town of Cana (which would include the Cana Wedding Church). Our flight home doesn't leave until 11:30 pm so we will actually have another day in Jerusalem. I plan on spending that day seeing some of the sights we missed or visiting some of the places we did see in more detail. Any suggestions? You have been so helpful, I thank you again.

Hi Janet, Glad you sent that question again. I had lost the email and couldn't remember the places you asked.
I took over 1500 photos in Israel. If we went there I would have a pic of it hehe I had my laptop with me and every night I downloaded photos from my camera and labeled them so later I would know exactly where they had been taken. Very handy when you take as many as I do!
Will look into the places you asked about, but remember some might now be in Palastine or the west bank.
I will check our information and email you later. Joy
