I am going to the Highlight of Eastern Europe this year. What currency other than Euro should I bring? What kind of traveller cheques should be used ( US or Canadaian)? About how much do I need? I know it varies depending on the individual. Let say, I only need the bare minimum.

Euro's are the only currency you need to take. TC's aren't needed (IMHO), just an ATM card to get the extra Euro's as you need them.
I budget somewhere between 30 & 50 (of the local currency) a day and I think that is more than the bare minimum. Hopefully someone else will respond, so you can get a few ideas. Smiler

Good day OT,
Well, as Pauline notes, Eastern Europe is easy with Euros these days. The Euro can be changed just about anywhere and will be accepted by many restaurants and shops outside the Euro zone as well as within. Your TD will give you advice on where and when to change to local currency if needed.
Those of you with US dollars or Sterling though will also be able to change them in most countries at exchange bureaux, which will also of course take AUD or CAD, etc. too.
The Euro is probably the easiest of all however and good advice would be to carry a few regradless. If one of the above is your home currency then you would avoid moving your money first to Euro and then to another currency - each of which attracts a charge.
Mixed advice but hope this helps!
Sue and Paul

SmilerThanks, Pauline. It does help to know approximately how much to budget for not knowing the living standard of the Eastern European countries. Also thank you for the mixed advice from Paul & Sue. I will do both: take some Euro and some Can Traveller cheques. Thanks again
