We are on BOI and are thinking we may not want to take the optional boat ride to St. Mark's Square to listen to the music. Are there some bars possibly with entertainment that are within walking distance to the hotel? We may just want to go for a drink and shop close to the hotel.

Hi this is Paul,
I just got home and have logged in to finish up some of the posts. We had a bit of a scrappy day today on the panel - Sue and I were in and out of briefings with operations. Apologies not all answered in timely fashion!
The Continental Hotel is right on the Grand Canal about 5 minutes walk from Piazzale Roma and roughly 20 minutes walk from St Marks Square. The route betwen the two is filled with shops, restaurants and many small bars (plus some larger ones). You will surely find something to your taste if you head towards San Marco (St. Mark's). It is very well sign posted and the adventure of finding your way in Venice is worth the trip alone!
The entertainment evening is very good and the boat ride is very scenic, so whether you do that or the other you'll enjoy being in Venice at night.

This is Sharon & Ken again--just looking ahead --the best of Italy tour itenerary seems to be quite busy are there any optional tours sights offered within the tour we need to consider?
