The poll of itineraries for another BB tour in 2010 has conclusively selected the 15 day Balkans & Dalmatia tour itinerary. Whilst the itinerary originally suggested for this tour (see: Balkans & Dalmatia) had a duration of 20 days, the modified version of this itinerary that Insight offered for voting had the first 5 days removed, resulting in a duration of 15 days.

During the voting period, there has been a considerable amount of discussion on the inclusion of additional activities that would lengthen this itinerary. Whether Insight would be prepared to change the itinerary that has been voted on is unknown. This poll is therefore intended to provide feedback to Insight on potential 2010 BB tour members' views on tour duration.

Hypothetically, and given that a recent poll on the most preferred time for the tour is currently showing a majority favouring September 2010, if you are likely to participate in the 2010 Balkans & Dalmatia BB Members tour, what tour duration would be most suitable for you?

[To avoid any confusion, the tour duration choices below relate to the actual time on the ground (from the day you meet the Tour Director to the day you transfer out to the airport for your home journey) and does not include the flight time to and from the tour.]

Question:
What would be your ideal duration for the 2010 Balkans & Dalmatia BB Members tour?

Choices:
15 days (as currently specified)
16 days
17 days
18 days
19 days
20 days
I don't care! I'm going whatever the tour duration!

I am just voting for myself but my husband will be going as well so that will be an additioal vote, both for going on the trip and the duration. I hope Insight is taking into consideration that not all spouses will be voting and in a lot of cases you can add another vote for the spouses. I hope I am making sense!!

In about 10 days time, at which point, there should be a reasonably clear view from voters as to what time of year and the preferred duration of the Balkans & Dalmatia BB tour, I'll post another poll on the question of how many people will be travelling in your party (eg. 1, 2, 3 or more). This will finally give Insight some clear feedback on the numbers expected to be taking the tour.

M. Chris, if you are concerned to see your spouse's opinions reflected in these polls then the easiest thing to do is to have your spouse register on the BB and then vote.

Please note that none of these polls are official: they are simply my attempt to collect information for Insight which will assist them in speeding up the process of moving this tour to the "booking" stage.

I have voted for a tour duration of 20 days however I thought I should clarify that in doing so I was not voting for the 20 day tour starting in Istanbul.

My vote was purely on the length of the tour and unrelated to content.

It occurs to me that someone may consider that a 20 day vote is a vote for the tour starting in Istanbul and a 15 day vote is for the original tour put forward by Insight. If it was to be interpreted that by voting for the 20 day tour we are voting for the Istanbul to Belgrade 20 day itinerary then that was definitely not my intention in voting.

My preference at to tour content is along the lines of the 19 day tour set out below, and which quite a few on the Bulletin Board seemed to find consensus with, but with an extra day added:

Day 1: Arrive Bucharest
Day 2: Bucharest - Brasov (via Sinaia and Bran Castle)
Day 3: Brasov - Bucharest (after a tour of Brasov, travel to Sighisoara for a detailed tour, before returning to Bucharest)
Day 4: Bucharest – Sofia
Day 5: Sofia Sightseeing
Day 6: Sofia – Ohrid
Day 7: Ohrid – Tirana
Day 8: Tirana – Budva - Kotor - Dubrovnik
Day 9: Dubrovnik At Leisure
Day 10: Dubrovnik – Korcula
Day 11: Korcula Sightseeing
Day 12: Korcula – Mostar - Sarajevo
Day 13: Sarajevo Sightseeing
Day 14: Sarajevo – Belgrade
Day 15: Belgrade Sightseeing
Day 16: Belgrade - Pécs
Day 17: Pécs sightseeing
Day 18: Pécs to Budapest
Day 19: Depart Budapest

Such an itinerary also gives a number of options at the end of the tour. Where some people could fly straight home, some could take more time in Budapest, some could join a river cruise or some could take the Hydrofoil from Budapest to Vienna with the possibility of an extension of days in Vienna.

I post this purely to clarify my voting position in that I have voted in relation to tour duration only and unconnected to specific tour contents.

Thanks for conducting the polls Phil for we seem to be getting zero input from Insight at this stage and time is passing by.

I agree Dragon. We have already started to plan for the trip Smiler Also have always wanted to visit Prague and Cesky Krumlov and will find a way to include this area into our trip. Like the idea of the boat ride from Budapest to Vienna at the end of the tour Dragon. Whilst we have been there(vienna) before, would love to see it 32 vears later although I suspect it hasn't changed that much in that time. Keep up the good work Phil and hopefully by this time next year we should be getting close to the 2010 Bulletin board Tour. Jim Smiler

What I have been voting for is also what Dragon has mentioned 19 days Bucharest to Budapest not interested in Istanbul for the BB Tour.

Jimbo we are the same we are hoping like mad that this tour will happen, we too have been to Vienna before but I do like the idea going on the Hydrofoil from Budapest to Vienna. Also we would like to spend a few nights in Vienna and see a concert or two Smiler

It's Bucharest to Budapest for us too...with perhaps the hydrofoil on to Vienna.
Thanks for all the input, especially Phil.

I've also voted for the 19 days as Puff describes - I haven't been to any of those places and it would be a great pleasure to travel again with my BB friends! Big Grin
