I must say that I have similar thinking to Tuppence and what would interest me is something that is different from where so many tours travel to.

On this basis I have taken some of Tups concept and fiddled around with it to create another couple of alternatives.

Discussion on this topic has been quiet for a while until yesterday but the suggestions for the next BB Members tour so far include:

  1. Egypt and Jordan (including St. Catherines and Mt. Sinai and the Treasury in Petra)
  2. Italy, Sicily and Greece (but no island cruise)
  3. Southern England (avoiding London, Bath, Stonehenge and Stratford but including smaller towns/cities in Kent, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall)
  4. Southern France (avoiding Paris and flying into Lyon or Nice and then concentrating on Southern France, especially along the Mediterranean)
  5. England & France combination (including the "less traveled" cities and towns and possibly including Wales)
  6. Italy (including the Amalfi Coast and Sicily and possibly a night stay on Capri)
  7. Monaco, Tuscany, Cinque Terra, Sorrento & Italian Lakes
  8. Italy or France Food & Wine tour
  9. Northern France (with additional time in Colmar and Strasbourg)
  10. an itinerary something like: Country Roads of Portugal, Spain & Southern France
  11. an itinerary something like: Country Roads of Champagne, Burgundy and Alsace tour combined with Uniworld Burgundy & Provence River Cruise
  12. The Balkans [Istanbul, Burgas (Bulgaria), Bucharest, Brastov, Cluj ( Romania), Belgrade (Serbia), Sarajevo (Bosnia), Sofia (Bulgaria), Istanbul] with mainly 2 night stays
  13. an itinerary something like: Austria-Hungary-Romania-Bulgaria-Bosnia-Serbia-Croatia-Slovenia-Italy (with an alternative itinerary for days 8, 9 & 10)
  14. Geneva to Vienna (including a cruise from Lausanne to Montreaux, then on to say Villars, Zermatt, Lugano, Venice, Lubjana, Budapest and Vienna)

Any more suggestions?

phil

Now that sounds interesting Phil. Roll Eyes Smiler

I wonder if a tour could be worked out that started in say Geneva, had a cruise from Lausanne to Montreaux, then on to say Villars, Zermatt, Lugano, Venice, Lubjana, Budapest and Vienna?

But I suppose it repeats to much of what a lot of people have already done. I know we have been to all of those places multiple times (except Lubjana where we have only been once). Oh well. Frowner

Since we have been on 8 or 9 Insight trips already we have been to a good majority of the places. That said, I would be interested in the Egypt & Jordan suggestion and the Southern England, staying in the small quaint little towns.

Tour suggestion...

North Eastern USA in the late fall season: Do some "leaf peeping" as the fall colors change, and visit the great site of the famous Augustus Saint-Gaudens. After a nice visit to some the northern states, including old Salem, MA, then one heads south.

Visit the Washington D.C. area, including the White House, Capitol, many of the Smithsonian and Natural History Museums, the famous Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial, etc.

Then it is off to Mount Vernon, George Washington's home. Then you head south to visit Montecello, Thomas Jefferson's home.

Visit the some of the sites of the early 1863 Civil war battles, the battle of bull run, etc. Then there is the Civil War Battle site at Antietam! There is so much more.

Visit Philadelphia (see the Liberty Bell) and other places.

Cat's Inheritance: We will now use it on travel in honor of our late cat, the "Little Guy" Whiskers!
