Have booked and paid in full through my travel agent who had contacted the Sydney office of Insight....when the discounted price comes through that can be credited to our fares etc....so we're definitely going on this trip and ready to meet you all.
Am now at Sydney airport ready to fly to NZ to see grandchildren- too much excitement all round!

Hi All. Just got home and saw you guys have actually booked. I was still waiting patiently for Insight to contact me. I couldn't wait for that, so up to the travel agent and guess what, we are now booked and will be paid by the end of this month.
We have also booked "The Bohemian" leaving Vienna on Sept 4th finishing in Budapest on Sept. 12th.- that gives us 4 days to get to Bucharest. It will also enable us to travel on the Hydrofoil to Vienna with those who will be returning to the Austrian capitol at the end of the BB tour.
Only airfares and a few other details still need to be refined. Looking forward to seeing you all next year. Jim Smiler Smiler

With the Booking Information with prices and itinerary now posted on Insight's international websites, the tally of likely and booked travellers on the 2010 President's tour is now:

Excellent, Dragon. Much better that a future tour participant maintains the booking tally.

Sorry to hear about the Budapest to Vienna hydofoil. Is it worth emailing them to confirm the end date of their season next year?

Yes I have emailed them Phil but as yet have not received a reply.

Their 2009 timetable dates for Budapest to Vienna are 1 May to 27 September (and I also read elsewhere that they operate May to September) so on that basis I am not hopeful.

Originally when we talked about the hydrofoil service it was well prior to receiving actual tour dates from Insight and at that time we were anticipating a possible start of early September (or late August as for last year’s BB tour) which would then have put us within the running times of the service. Unfortunately 3 October in Budapest would seem to put us just outside their operating dates.

However, as I indicated, I am still awaiting a response to my email to confirm the situation.

Some good news Phil.

I have this evening received a reply to my email re the Hydrofoil service and it appears that for 2010 the last hydrofoil run from Budapest to Vienna will be on Saturday 2 October which is the day that the BB tour concludes in Budapest.

Their reply states as follows:

"Thank you for your e-mail.

We hereby send you the timetable of the hydrofoil for 2010:

May 01-July 01, 2010
from Budapest to Vienna: on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
from Vienna to Budapest: on Wednesday, Friday, Sunday

August 01-29, 2010
from Budapest to Vienna: every day
from Vienna to Budapest: every day

August 31-October 03, 2010
from Budapest to Vienna: on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
from Vienna to Budapest: on Wednesday, Friday, Sunday

Ticket rate:
89.00 EUR / Person
109.00 EUR / Person / round trip"
