I'm with you OzJohnno. I voted for the Italy tour. I've done the Italian Escapade and CR of Southern Italy and Sicily and I'd go back to Italy again if it was the Presidents Tour, as there a number of places that I haven't visited before on that itinerary. Thankfully the majority rules in this instance, even though I'm one of the minority.

Travler, I guess the current 'world financial crisis' affects people in various countries very differently. Our Federal government is giving money away to people and calling it a "Stimulus Package". There was money that went to some people last December and I can't recall who the recipients were but the 2nd 'stimulus package' is going to all the people who had filed a tax return for our last financial year. I received an email from my bank, this past Monday, telling me that AUD900.00 had been deposited into my bank account. Money that I can put towards my next overseas holiday.

For us it is definitely the destination Pauline as we have no interest in returning to Italy or France again. We would never select a tour based primarily on duration and in fact the reason that I had originally suggested the Balkans being a few days longer was not just to add length but to also try and add additional experiences and variety to the tour such as the Plitvice Lakes etc.

I think it is easier for me to book my own tour for 2010 based on what I really want, as it seems too hard for everyone to agree for the President's tour. Italy is always going to be my choice because I have such a fondness for it, and can never get enough. I think there are others who feel the same. Out of respect there are others who like the idea of the Balkans tour, for the same reasons I love Italy and I would not expect them to change their thinking as I could not change mine. Personally, I would love to go on a tour where I could meet fellow B&B ers, there are so many I feel I know well and some who I would love to meet . Maybe another time, another tour!!

Gennevive... "Out of respect there are others who like the idea of the Balkans tour, for the same reasons I love Italy and I would not expect them to change their thinking as I could not change mine." Like you we prefer Italy over the Balkans area.
