OK, so I am a bit daft, but would anybody be able to give me some advice?
I have an 8 megapixel camera which I will take on Italian Escapades tour later this year. I was planning to buy XD cards from ebay rather than a separate storage unit. If I have huge cards (eg 1 gig) will it take longer for each photo to be written to the card? So if I buy smaller cards (256 or 512 MB) will it be quicker to write to the card? I generally use the camera on high quality mode either as large TIFF or RAW files but I only ususally do this to photograph one subject so take a few shots then download and manipulate them. I have not noticed that the last few shots seem to be slower to write than the first but perhaps this is because I am only using 'small' cards. THanks for any advice. |

The speed of a memory card should not be related to its capacity size.
For CompactFlash memory, I know there are different speed ratings: High-Speed CompactFlash But I'm not so sure about XD cards. This message has been edited. Last edited by: PatrickC, |

Nell,
I purchased several cards from e-bay. It was so much cheaper that buying from a store. I bought a 512mb and 256mb card. I also took a 128mb and 32 mb card with me. We were away for 6 weeks and I took heaps of photos and still did not use my entire capacity. Definitely an easy way as I was not having to carry any extra weight with storage devices etc. Di |

I have bought several new cards and two spare batteries already from ebay as well as CD maps of Western Europe for our handheld GPS! So much cheaper than retail and convenient too. Thanks for the tips. I agree that carrying a few extra XD cards is so much more convenient than trying to find somewhere to burn a CD. |
