Another thing to check on your chargers...etc is whether the switching is automatic, or if there is a manual switch you have to flick. Some older devices had a switch you needed to set to either 110 or 220/240 - with the same dire consequences if you forgot to change it...
Also, some hotels, just to make life interesting, offer power sockets in multiple voltages (eg: a std US socket alongside a European one, each marked with the relevant voltage). I only struck this twice in Europe, but it meant I had to look carefully before plugging anything in... |

Yes, all you need is an adaptor.
When you travel, remember that a foreign country is not designed to make you comfortable. It is designed to make its own people comfortable. |

Thanks, Travlin Cpl, for the advise on the SmartDisk PhotoBank. My husband and I went out and purchased one for ourselves this evening. It will come in handy on our tour in September and at home for the many, many photos I take.

I got one from my husband for Christmas, ( with the old name DIGI DRIVE) then he went out and bought another for himself with the new name, so we both had one to try out (and use the other as a backup ) on a recent (18 day ) motorcycle touring trip. They worked just fine, so should be no problem on our coach tour in September.
I found this review article. http://digitalproducer.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=41099 |

Regarding subject on transformer, I always bring one. It really doesnt take up that much more space, but it gives peace of mind of protecting whatever precious equipment one use.
Also in a dual wattage hairdryer, when switch to 220V it wont operate on high power. So using transformer allows me to use high power by staying on the 110V side. I also agree with someone regarding memory cards on digital camera. I bring several 1GB or 2GB, they are compact & give you thousands of high quality pictures for the whole trip (as long as you are not prolific & takes 5000 pic). Then when I come home I just loaded them into the computer. |

Grand Ma....
Where did you pick-up your PhotoBank? We had to purchase ours on-line from PC Connection as none of the retail electronic stores had them. --------------------------

We have a store called London Drugs, which is a pharmacy, housewares, small appliance, and electronic shop. They sold the PhotoBanks in their computer department.

Hi, PaPa G here, I also purchased the Photo Bank for our EH tour. I have tested it with my camera card, Nikon D80, with a ScanDisk Ultra II, 1800 photos. For the trip, we have packed 2 converters and plugs plus a 5 plug Power Bar for surge protection. That to me is the most important item, can never tell with electrcal systems burning out you camera battery, Photo Bank etc.
