My personal opinion is this:

Take an average of 10-15 minutes of tape per day. Some days, you will tape a bit longer, other days a bit shorter.

Then, when you get home, through it all into an edit and weed it down to about an hour total. That is about the limit that most people can tolerate sitting through.

I cannot imaging taping an hour or two per day. But, if you can, great for you!

Interesting how this topic has been revived after two years!

On our latest trip I took just over seven hours of video, which averages out at around 15 minutes a day. The final result was two fifteen minute videos of our French cruise, two 30 minutes videos of the BB tour and a five minute video of our two days in Basel. So about 95 minutes in all from 420 minutes of raw video; less really as I sprinkle a lot of stills into my videos.

I estimate that for every minute of final video I spent over an hour editing.

When you travel, remember that a foreign country is not designed to make you comfortable. It is designed to make its own people comfortable.
