My husband made enquiries about the Ipod and downloading photos straight onto it off the camera and was treated like an idiot. The electronics store told him that cannont be done and you NEED a PC since the Ipod has no driver. They then tried to sell him something that was $500 and big and would "do the trick" He felt like an idiot.

I'm sure I read on here that people ARE downloading straight from their camera to their Ipod Video. Is that correct????????

You can transfer photos from the memory card of your digital camera to an iPod Photo with the iPod Camera Connector accessory. This is very handy for travelling as you don't need a notebook PC.

If you click the 'find' tab and type in ipod, you will find the post.

Camera Connector
The iPod Camera Connector provides a fast, easy way to transfer images from your digital camera to your iPod. Simply plug the iPod Camera Connector into the iPod dock connector, plug in your camera’s USB cable, and watch your images make their way to your iPod.

See: Accessorize your iPod and Apple iPod Camera Connector

A Google Australia search for "Apple iPod Camera Connector" will show a large number of stores selling the device. The average price seems to be about $45-50.

Laj, I think your mistake was assuming that the employees of your local electronics chain store were in any way competent. They're not, they never are. I've had them tell me products don't exist out of ignorance, but I've also had them blatantly lie to me about products to try to make an expensive sale (they're mostly on commission anyway). Luckily, I'm a geek and know more about the products than they do.

Anyway, here's something that will read the camera's media cards:
Belkin Media reader for ipod

fuzzypuppy,

this doesn't look like a good deal to me. A typical price for the Belkin unit in Australia is $124.95 (see: http://www.mrgadget.com.au/catalog/belkin-media-reader-...onnector-p-1603.html ).

The Apple unit above is only about $45-50.

I'm looking at buying an iPod - do you need any particular model in order to be able to store photos (and view them) direct from your digital camera?

Hiya!

Call Apple directly to get the most up-to-date information.

One thing to remember is that not all cameras are compatible with the iPod. For example, even with a connector cable, my Fuji E-550 would not transfer to my iPod. Contact your camera manufacturer to find out if it can be done.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. I was wondering whether I needed a video iPod - there seems to be quite a few models. I will do some research before making a decision. Just wish technology would slow down and let me catch up! Eeker
