Yeah, our daughter bought a little Gorillapod, they are really cleaver!
My husband, Peter, has decided to leave the larger tripod and just take the small table top one that fits in his day pack. He will go out as you did to get those night shots, and early mornings too. Thanks for the tips re the no of photos you took, and the memory you used. His camera is 10 megapixels,(I read your other posting about your camera)so this gives him a good indication of how much memory he will need. He is planning to download to the computer and backup to a firewire hard drive and DVD's. Penny.Eaton |

I have used Gorillapod on a couple of tours now and find it excellent in respect to its extremely light weight and ability to wrap around objects such as poles, fences, seats etc.
For more info see Gorillapod by Joby. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Dragon, |

Unless things have changed recently, in some countries, such as Italy, use of a tripod requires a license, (I guess they consider you to be a professional photographer if you use one).

Hi Infotrack,
I had to hand over my nice blue 'n' black Gorillapod tripod ( recommended by Dragon as it happens ) in the Ukraine last year. Thought it was the end of a good friendship but after a lot of persistent wrangling I did manage eventually to get re-united with it - and this was after I had had to purchase a so called 'official permit' to take pictures in the first place. An onlooking, but unhelpful, English speaking guide confirmed that tripod owners are indeed classified as professional photographers in their neck of the woods. Regards Roger |
