I read all of the Country Roads to France Tour Tales. My impression is,that there is a lot of time spent on the bus, and only an hour or two on the actual places. This is especially so in the Paris thru Switzerland leg of the tour. I am more keen in spending time in Paris and not Switzerland.

I would also like to visit Lourdes and actually stay there as opposed to just getting a passing glimpse of it.

Thank you everyone for your input.

I am a bit confused, Loves, since the CR of France tour we took last year did not go through Switzerland at all. We were nearby, in Chamonix, though. Is that the leg you are thinking of?Maybe one of the new Selects tours would be better for you. They spend more time in a few cities than the country roads tours.

Hi Guys,

We have done maybe 25 coaching tours in Europe. There is only one we would do for a second time;

"The Country Roads of France"

This tour covers much of France and the food, wine and scenery are as diverse as any we have experienced in any one European country. We choose Insight's CR Tours simply because they do not spend all day zooming up and down motorways. The journey between destinations is, for us, part of the overall holiday experience. All I can say is that we did not fall asleep, on the coach, during the entire tour.

There are many 'lesser known' places to visit in Paris and some of them will doubtless be of interest. I would suggest that you buy, via e-Bay maybe, a copy of Thomas Cook's "Travellers Guide to Paris". This little book includes maps, suggested walking routes and umpteen places of interest.

Hope that is of some value to youSmiler
