Erm, I hope I'm not just being paranoid, but my tour for Treasures of Turkey changed from DEF to PD. Does this mean anything about the status of my tour?

Given that the tour leaves next Saturday, I already have my tour docs and no one's contacted me with changes, I'm guessing this is only a typo..but I just wanted to be sure that there aren't going to be any surprises.

Oh fuzzy - I hope that it is a typo. Otherwise we may all be in trouble.
You must contact your travel agent or Insight to double check. It certainly seems weird considering you have all your documents. I will be sooo sad if that is not the case and it is as you say very close to lift off.
So, I am going to look on the bright side, and, since you have all your documents say;
HAVE A FAB TIME!

Yeah, I contacted my travel agent who called Insight. They told her the tour is definitely a go and that they rarely cancel a tour after the docs are sent out. (The only exceptions are in cases of natural disasters or civil unrest).

Fuzzypuppy, I'm pleased your travel agent has been able to confirm your tour is going ahead. I'm taking the same tour in June, so I look forward to your post-tour impressions.

I think the status change on your tour raises an alarm for those of us believing definite departure meant just that. I thought there was an assurance that between 1 May and 15 October tours would not be rescheduled 'within 50 days of departure'. On re-checking, in the fine print it says 'unless market or other circumstances occur beyond our control'.

I notice your tour is still listed as PD, not Def, which remains a worrying mystery. It seems you were not provided with an explanation from your travel agent.

Moderator John - could this be clarified? I fully understand that the 2009 market presents difficult circumstances for Insight, but there is no peace of mind for clients if the definite departure designation can be withdrawn.

You are correct and this must have been some sort of typo on the website - I certainly haven’t come across it before.

All tours are anyway guaranteed within 50 days so this was clearly a system anomaly.
