I often wonder which is the most popular/most enjoyable tour? I have done a few, mostly England and Western Europe.
I would be interested to see which tour gets your vote. I am starting to think about where I want to go next year and what the thoughts are from the B&B's members - what is the best tour and why. I like a long tour and would go anywhere from 14 - 35 days. Has anyone every thought, I would never go 'there' but on going has wondered why not. Which place has most surprised you or charmed you so much so that you would go back again and again because you can't get enough of the place? I look forward to your responses Thanks all Gen |

Gennevive,
My travel agent would constantly encourage me to tour Italy - just Italy - when visiting Europe. I finally followed her advice and now I can't get enough of the country. The charming little towns are especially delightful - the Cinque Terre, Sangimignano, Siena... There's nothing like a well-earned gelato (hiking up and down the steep, narrow streets) enjoyed by the fountain in the piazza - any piazza, any gelato!! |

China is one of our favorites. You would be totally surprised how much fun a tour there would be. We also loved Morocco. Their food is simply delicious and beautiful country side. We thought it would be all desert. The hotels are great in both places. The hotels were much better than you would get in Europe.

I went to Croatia and Slovenia last year and loved it. I think because we know so little about the country and it still has a negative connotation because of the war, that I really didn't know what to expect. The place was beautiful, the people were friendly, everything was well built, the prices were reasonable and the food was good. It really is a mixture of Italy and Eastern Europe and has so much more history than that war.

Oh Budapest!! I loved it and would go back in a heartbeat. In fact I really enjoyed the feel of all the Eastern European countries we dropped in at. Since tourism is just really opening up there compared to say Italy and France, they are very welcoming. The Siene wasn't a patch on the Danube illuminated at night.
Our tour director made a comment that many people chose our tour because it included Prague, were pleasantly surprised when they say who beautiful Budapest was. I loved the food there too. My favourite out of all the places we visited on the tour. Britian/Ireland Explorer 25 August 2009 Romantic European 2007 |

Most definitely Egypt... it is the most amazing place, I've been twice already and now organising for a third time. I took my Mum the first time and she reluctantly went as she didn't want me to travel on my own & she was totally amazed & its now her favourite place too. It has amazing historical sites obviously but I enjoy the people & culture just as much & if you asked my Mum it would be the Nile cruise that she loved!

Some great food for thought.
Well Zelda Sue, Italy is where I will be spending my holiday this year. I have almost a whole month to look forward to, I am doing the Country Roads of Italy tour and Easy Pace Monte Carlo, Tuscany and Lake Como. Gelato is certainly on my menu. Though I have to forgo the Pizza as I am not able to eat food that contains white flour. It kind of rules out pasta too. Gee, what I am going to eat in Italy. Not to worry - there are plenty of olives and wine!! And always different varieties of Gelato. (yum!) I have definately thought about Eastern Europe and Croatia, Slovinia and Greece. Egypt is a possiblity, my grandfather served in Egypt in WWII he was in the Royal Engineers and worked on a minesweeper on the Suez Canal. We have loads of photo's from his time there both during and after the war. I think the fact that we see the unrest and war in countries tends to put us off going, but it seems that people can still visit and enjoy them. Laj the reason I wanted to go on the Romantic European last year was because I wanted to go to Prague and Budapest. It was fully booked in the October 2006 prior to when I wanted to go the following September 2007 so I ended up going on the Explorer, which in the end I really did enjoy. I will be giving some thought to my holiday next year, booking early to avoid disappoinment. If anyone else has anything to add, I love to hear. I have four weeks now before I take off for this year's holiday, and will be booking next years, soon after I return. Cheers Gen |

I'm with Jode on this one - Egypt is my absolute favourite destination, have been 4 times in 2 years, done 2 Nile cruises which I really enjoy and will go back in October for another Nile cruise and a Lake Nasser cruise, will also spend some time in Cairo - a place I love. Anyone who hasn't been really should consider it.

Hi Gen
I wouldn't let perceived unrest stop you from going to Egypt... I saw nothing when I was there, I felt nothing but safe in Egypt.. The people are friendly, the culture is so interesting and the sites, just amazing... |
