I am planning to do this tour in September this year - very excitied!- wondering about the optional extras - there seem to quite a lot of them for Insight - which ones did you really enjoy? What will the temperatures be like in Italy in September?

Katharine, I haven't done the Italian Elegance, so can't help you with optionals but I have toured Southern Italy and Sicily in late September early October 2007. I remember that it rained on a couple of occasions while I was in Rome but the rest of the tour had lovely weather BUT I was in the south and the Elegance heads north, which is usually cooler.

Hi Katharine, My husband and I did this tour in September last year and experienced every condition you can think of!!!!! Hot and humid (38) in Rome and Venice and very very cold in the Dolomites. We did all the optionals and the only one that didn't live up to Insight's usual standard was the dine around in Rome near Piazza Navona. However this was at the end of the optional which took us to Fontana do Trevi, Pantheon etc.
