There is no recent information on Insight's online blog in regards to this trip(last 2005-2006). Many of the hotels listed in Insights Vacation book 2009 are rated very bad on the Trip Advisor web site. Namely the Atlas Medina in Marrakesh, the Golden tulip in Rabat,Melia Lebreras in Seville,Crown Palace in Fez. Thus we have not booked this trip. Also several of these hotels are not centrally located. Can anyone shed some light on any of these hotels from the past year??? Thks Ken

Hi Ken

We did this tour last September. If I recall correctly, none of the hotels in Morocco were great - foyers and public areas looked promising, but the rooms, etc seemed a little run down. Some were better than others, but none were so bad that you wouldn't want to stay there. Most people on our tour also got sick in Morocco, including me, and I was especially careful with what I ate and drank. I think the hotels in Salamanca and Lisbon were especially good, and all the rest were fine. Sometimes they weren't particularly central, but if we didn't do the optional meal tours (mostly we didn't) we always found somewhere to eat, and for a good price.

I really wanted to visit Morocco, but for us and most on the tour, this was the disappointing part. However, we thoroughly enjoyed Spain and Portugal. Each to their own, I guess. I didn't post a tour tale, as it was a number of months before we returned home, and my memory of specifics had faded somewhat (I also had to go back to work, which was depressing!).

Ken, do go and read Trip advisor, but don't listen to what everyone says. Some people are very hard to please. I found a few of our hotels listed on Trip advisor got very poor ratings but I found them very welcoming. Only found one hotel room that disappointed me and I guess I was home sick for my family while I was there so that could have been the reason. All the beds were large and comfy and all rooms were very clean. Thats all I ask for in a room.
