I would be most grateful if a recent traveller on this tour could advise:
a. options offered.
b. cost of each option.
c. their assessment
of the option on a scale of one to
ten - ten being brilliant!

Insight provide a priced list of typical optionals that may be relevant to your tour on their website here. As it says on that webpage:

This list is for guidance only. The final list of optional excursions to be offered during your tour will be given to you by your Tour Director. To allow you to participate in a selection of these additional evenings of dinner/entertainment and special interest sightseeing excursions, please budget for an approximate cost of US$40-50 per person per day.

Each tour start may well be offered a slightly different selection of optionals, including optionals not in the "typical optionals" list and it is not uncommon for a couple of optionals to be bundled together. Whether the optionals offered to you will run or not will then depend on the extent of interest by your fellow travellers: optionals are often deleted because of "insufficient" interest.

I'm not sure of the value of previous travellers' assessments of optionals but of the optionals listed as typical for this tour, my wife and I have previously done all of the Rome optionals, the San Gimignano and Uffizi gallery optionals out of Florence and all of the Venetian optionals whilst on another Insight tour and we were very happy with them all.

Hi Graham, like Phil we enjoyed San Gimingnano as an option and we also enjoyed all the dinner options. Our groups were great fun and we had a great time at them. The mozzarella farm in Sorrento was a low cost but very good option and also the Amalfi Coast option is a must do. We also enjoyed all the Venice options. See the tour tales for more ideas.
