Julie,
I have not done this particular tour but have been to Switzerland in Spring and Autumn/Early Winter In Spring everything is green and the scenery is lovely the weather was getting warm where as Autumn / winter is a little chilly.Switzerland is Beautiful any time of the year really. This Tour only goes from April to October so Your choice is Spring,Summer or Autumn. If It was me I would probably go april/May.
Whatever you choose you won't be dissappointed.

We went in May and it was lovely. One of the mountain passes had just opened up - our TD said she couldn't go that way on her previous tour. Of course, there will be snow at the top of the 3 mountains you go up. I liked the Matterhorn the best.

I went in July. The weather was great (most of the time) and there was still snow. There was of course a lot of people particularly on the Jungfrau.

It was like Grand Central Station on the Jungfrau, with an international flavour.

For those who have done CR of S, was there an optional tour to Mount Titlis?
Thanks
Betty

Hi Betty

When we did the Country Roads of Switzerland in May of 2007 an optional tour to Mt Titlis was offered and taken by almost all of us. We also had optional excursions to the Jungfrau and the Gornegratt at Zermatt.

In Lugano a group of 8 of us decided to take the short walk to the Funicular San Salvatore and ride to the top for views over the city and lake and that was well worth the effort.

In case you are interested you will find my trip report at Country Roads of Switzerland 26 May to 9 June 2007

If you also have a look in Phil's excellent list of tour tales located at WHERE ARE ALL THE TALES? , which sits permanently second from the top of the Tour Tales section, you will also find 3 other trip reports (from Bret, ElviMark and Helen A) on the Country Roads of Switzerland tour.

We were not offered a tour to Mt Titlis, nor to the Gornegratt.

Nor were we, but understand that you can arrange a visit to Titlis but would probably have to do in place of Pilatus based on limited time available. Great tour though and thinking of doing it again.

Happy Trails!!

I did both of those but the itinerary has changed. In Lugano I took the ferry on the lake to Gandria and wandered about there while others went on the optional to the markets in Italy. It is an excellent tour.
