My wife and I recently returned from an "Easy Pace Monte Carlo, Tuscany and Rome" tour and we would like to add the name of Craig Sunney to this list of great Tour Directors. Craig was extremely professional, knowledgeable and organized. He did a great job with our diverse group and through his efforts I believe a good time was had by all. Our driver Jian Lucca was a real magician when it came to handling our coach in some of the most difficult traffic situations. Kudos to Insight for employing such great people.

I am very impressed! Everything I was going to say about my tour director, Gary and driver Maurizio, has been said about so many others.
I thought they were exceptional for all the reasons already given. It seems Insight have many wonderful and knowledgable people working for them.

My husband and I just returned Italian Elegance. It was a wonderful trip. We had the best tour director,Ernesta, and wonderful people on the bus.

Another Stephanie Jordan fan!!

We did the Italian Escapade recently with Stephanie and she was top-notch! She really knows her stuff and I wish I could have absorbed half of the knowledge she shared with us. Marcello was our drive and equally amaazing.

We also had an incredible tour guide at the Vatican Museum/St. Peter's/Colliseum - Salvatore really knew his art history. I had heard from others that we would probably be carted through the Sistine Chapel at a quick pace but Salvatore was able to keep us there for about half an hour. All the while - providing detailed info about the frescoes, etc.

Still exhausted from the pace but enjoyed all that we were able to see!

Nathalie Verbeeten gets my vote!
She was informative but not to talkative. what she had to say was worth listening to and she did her best to meet all of our needs. She was also willing to wear a silly red hat we bought for her at Venice which we actually found really easy to follow [much better than a raised umbrella as you could see her head for a block or more infront]

Our driver, Joan was also really good value to.

our tour... Highlights of Europe Sept 24th 07
[see my 2nd installment of pics for the red hats]

We have been on two insight tours and both of our tour director have been top notch. As I read the postings on this thread I'm becoming more and more convinced that there is no "best tour guide." Insight seems to hire many top guides.

I'd like to add two. Ernesta Fae was the TD on my Italy/Sicily tour in 2000. Elmar Gahler was my Alpine Splendors TD in 2002. Both were great. I would love to do another tour with either of them. They both genuinely loved their job and went above and beyond to make the tour even better than it normally would have been.

The top tour directors that we recently had were Piotr Golabek and Gary Veredon. We have no complaints about either tour.

Cheers

Piotr Golabek was by far the worst tour director ever, give him the prize! Hard to understand his english, no sense of humor, and not likeable. Trust me, hardly anyone tipped him! Really looked forward to Golden Explorer. It was sixteen days of being handed sheets of paper about each country to read!
I have complained to Insight about him, and they never got back to me. NEVER!
Before this tour I was also on an awesome Insight tour of Turkey with guide Orhan Ongu, he has my top vote for being the best.
