To whoever can help! We'd like to bring along a video camera. Can we carry that in addition to our travel bag? It's pretty small--apx. 10" X 7" X 7". Also, does a purse count as an extra bag? It just seems that everything is pretty strict and I don't like to be surprised! Thanks, Susan

Hi Susan - it depends on what you mean by 'travel bag'. If you mean in addition to your checked bag, as your carryon, then yes. You can carry two pieces onto the plane with you. Your purse counts on the airline, so you can have your purse, plus one carryon, as long as it is within the dimensions and weight allowed. If the video camera fits into the carryon, and is not too heavy you are OK. Onboard the coach, you are hauling it yourself, and it must fit within your personal space. There is a small overhead bin, and room under the seat in front of you. I usually take a very small, wallet-like purse, and put it into my carryon, just to minimize the jumble. The more you have with you, the more you have to keep track of - and carry!

Cheers, Nancy.

Hi Susan- i just asked my travel agent the same questions today and she called Insight- the answer is that a camera bag counts as a carryon but a purse (reasonable size) does not. She suggested putting the camera bag in the carryon. My husband and I are both going so we will put the camera, folding umbrellas, tour info, first aid stuff etc in one carryon and put wipes, tissues, wtc. in 2nd carryon and leave room for daily souvenirs which will then be transferred to the suitcase in the hotel.

Hi Susan,

My husband brought his video camera when we went for the Country Road of Switzerland last September. It was not a problem at all. He placed his camera bag (about the same size as yours) under my seat and sometimes on the rack above us. We also had 2 medium size haversack. I think as long as you placed your bags within your seat, then it will be okay. There were 43 of us and we had more than enough space to place our bags.
There was another compartment in the coach where you were allowed to place any extra carry-on. But they will open this compartment when you check-in to the hotel. We were very satisfied with the service and the way the luggages were handled. To us, it was really a nice honeymoon, everyone in the group were so nice and were all on-time.

Hi Susan:
I can't see a video camera bag being a problem on the Coach nor on the Plane. I just returned from The Country Roads Of Italy and always had my Video Camera Bag with me. As others have said, it's easily no problem on the Coach. On planes, to my knowledge, camera bags and laptop cases are generally treated like purses and therefore you are allowed a Carry-on in addition to the Camera Bag. On our return trip, my wife had a purse, I had the Camera Bag AND we each had a small Carry-on. The only thing we noticed is that airlines are getting stickier on the size of the Carry-on and were forcing over-sized carry-ons to be checked.
