Hi everyone,
This is my first post and this will be our first tour with Insight. Through Pauline of the BB I was directed to the Tour Tales section, and I'd like to thank all of you who have written write-ups of this particular tour. They were fascinating to read, and very helpful to us in getting a better idea of what to expect, what different people thought of the optionals, the hotels, meals, etc. We lived in Vienna for 3 months (21 years ago) and our apartment was very near the Stadtpark. We used to go there to walk most evenings if we weren't going out to a concert or some other activity. This is why we are excited about staying at the Vienna Hilton. Would love to hear from anyone else who has, or will soon be, taking this tour.

We were on this tour in October, 2007 and it is outstanding. Be sure to attend the highlight dinner. Also the wienersnitzel at Figgmuellers is outstanding. It is a 10 minute walk from the Vienna Hilton.

Cheers

Hi General Max,
Thanks for your recommendations. We will definitely do the highlight dinner and we are putting a dinner of Wienerschnitzel (which we both love) on our list of things to do during our extra couple of days in Vienna.
I'd be happy to receive any suggestions anyone else would like to pass along.
I'm glad you recommend the tour so highly.

Hi Marcha Darcy

My wife and I are taking this tour starting on September 27, we have also read the tour tales which are very helpful. I hope you will post a tale when you return from your tour, it is always good to get a recent tour tale.

Cheers

Hi Chapeau Lover. The Bohemian & Highlights of Eastern Europe are 2 different tours. The Bohemian is a 9 day tour and Highlights of Eastern Europe is 14 days.
Vienna, Budapest & Prague are the only common visited cities. The Highlights goes into Poland & Germany, whereas the Bohemian doesn't. Wink

You will bump into the tour group on the Bohemian tour while staying at the Vienna Hilton. Make sure you beat that group down to breakfast in the morning. As I remember both tours left the hotel at the same time in the morning.

Hi Geordie,

There are a couple of Hilton Hotels in Vienna and I am not sure which one you will be staying at but if it is the Hilton Stadt Park Hotel then Figlmuller's is only about a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

We have not booked when going to Figlmuller's but if you need the phone number to do so it is +43 1 512 61 77.

Figlmuller's is located at Wollzeile 5, 1010 Vienna and here is a link which contains a map that you can enlarge to see the location of the restaurant: Figlmullers

They certainly make great scnitzels which are huge and hang over the sides of the plate. Enjoy your meal. You will enjoy the meal. Big Grin
