Why are the airfares so expensive? Singapore Airlines has them cheaper through their website.

It certainly pays to shop around for airfares and often they are cheaper on the interenet- you do need to take care with how many stopovers and flight changes there are. Our TA booked through Malaysia for Amman Jordan and it read as Perth - KL - Amman
HOWEVER we actually will fly Perth- KL - Dubai- Beirut- Amman-

I also read of someone whho flew Qantas and had a 37 hour flight with 4 stopovers back to Aus

Wren, I'm assuming that there will be a stop over somewhere, depending on the airline.
There always is.
I don't know of any airline that flies direct to Europe without a stopover on the way.
8 hours flying into Asia and then another 11 to 14 hours flying, depending on your Europe destination.
My understanding of 'direct' is that you don't fly into another European airport before arriving at your European destination airport.
Hopefully others will either confirm my understanding or put another viewpoint. Smiler

We are flying Singapore Airlines to Frankfurt via Singapore on the way over with a 2 night stay but on the return we are non-stop to Adelaide but we are stopping in Singapore for several hours to connect. So I think you are quite right Pauline.

Singapore Airlines only has a couple of hours wait at Changi airport between flights, then direct to Athens.

You know... I was wondering that too. Our travel agent didn't book the earlybird fares as soon as they came out. She told us to wait till Insight posted theirs and she subsequently booked those saying they are usually cheaper??
Hmmmmmmmmm

Wren, are you flying on their new A380? Great seats. I flew economy on the 380 in August and it was very relaxing. I managed to get a window seat on the upper deck and it was pretty spacious and they have nice big individual video screens.
I really noticed the difference, when I then flew on a 747 from Singapore to Frankfurt Smiler

Denise. do the A380's fly out of Adelaide or is it only Sydney?

Hi

Yes...we are in the A380 for the Sydney/ Singapore leg. I have only read good things about the A380 Economy class and we are hoping to get the upper deck as well.
