Hi All
As our holiday draws nearer (22 days) I have one major question hand luggage. As we are travelling Continental from UK we are allowed hand luggage approx
a maximum width of 18 inches
a maximum depth of 10 inches
a maximum length of 22 inches
Will I be allowed to use this as hand luggage on the Insight coach ? I'm quite happy to carry it myself or would it be advisable to use a rucksack instead ?
Many Thanks

Viv x

There will not be room inside the couch for a bag of this size. A backpack or the like will fit but not much more. You have limited space overhead and depending upon your height you might have some extra leg room in front of you.

Give serious consideration as to how much your are actually bringing on your trip. Read as much as you can on here about travel tips and what to bring and not bring. We just finished two weeks in Europe and even though we packed wisely and limited ourselves to what we took we still took too much.

Someone on here has posted something to the effect of "pack as little as possible and then remove 1/2 of it." Wise advice.

Happy Travels.

You may well be able to put hand luggage like that under the coach without access during the day but there's no guarantee it depends on how many others have bags etc. Have a day bag to take inside with things you'll need during the day - guidebook perhaps, camera, rain gear etc.

Donnie: I've been watching almost daily for you to post so that Icould find out how you enjoyed the European Spotlight? Hopefully you will see this note and respond. We were on the Spotlight in May 2008 and loved it. Are you going to post a Tour Tale? Christine,

We loved our trip. By the end of the two weeks we were certainly tired but it was a good tired. Saw so many more great things than we could have imagined. Our tour was full and we made some great friends. No people problems that I know of during the entire two weeks.

I'm not one to post a tour tale (don't have the literary aptitude.) but I might end up posting a few pics. If you want to share emails I'll send you a link to some pics I posted to an online album.

VivH-I feel compelled to give advice after only been back home for a week, from the 35 day European Heritage tour. Amazing tour by the way!!! My companion and I had our carry ons on the coach, stuffed partially under our seats and legs every traveling day. We actually rested our feet on them since we are too short to reach the foot rests WinkOthers had their carry ons also without a problem. If they don't fit on the overhead racks there was lots of room under our legs. And if the bus isn't full there are always empty seats to park them on. Yes, the less you take, the better it is but after a full six weeks away I still came home without the extender used on my luggage and both my carry on and luggage were under the allocated weight. 30 kgs checked baggage/5kgs for carry on. Wow that was a long tour ! I suppose there is always the "what if it's cold, what if it rains and what if I can't wash out as much as I would like to (we only have a 2 night stop 1 week into the holiday and another at the end ) and then there is the urge just to bring more !

Viv-I had a coat that was water repellent and a thin cardigan for rainy or cooler days. Once the weather got hotter and we were sweating so much, we washed things out on our two night stays. You have to! We wore shorts and capri pants a lot but I had three pairs of pants. Black or navy pants are a must but I also had khakis and jeans. We noticed some people tend to dress up more for dinner but as long as you have a couple of dressier tops to wear you don't feel that out of place when others are decked out in the fancy shoes and jewellery. I didn't expect that and besides there was no room for that in my luggage anyway. Roll Eyes
