We are set to go on the Italian Escapade Tour leaving Canada September 14. On this web-site it says that we will receive a Map Book Journal. Nothing like that was received with our tour documents. Did they miss sending us something, or will we receive it when we arrive in Rome?

Your tour director will give you the map journal at the beginning of your tour - usually at the "meet and greet".

Italian Escapade is a great tour -- enjoy!

Thanks Tully! That is reassuring.

What a wonderful thing it is to have this Board to get advise and ask questions. It is a real advantage to be prepared for the tour and to know what to expect. I appreciate your help!

It's a great keepsake too. Our TD passed a copy around the bus for us during the trip and we copied the exact route we travelled into our own books. There's a page where you can collect everyone's email addresses etc. We started to do that then our TD stopped us and we just passed one copy around, then he photocopied it for us. Far easier!

Since they've started giving these out (very cool btw), I've always received on the bus the first day or two of the tour. So, if you don't have by then I would certainly ask the TD about it. Bon Voyage and....

Happy Trails!!

Excellent! Thank you! Now I am very curious. From the name I expect the journal contains maps........ a road map of Italy?? Are there also maps of the towns and citys we visit as well?

And I gather there is a spot for us to keep a journal of our journey??? I have packed a journal for writing, but maybe I don't need to???

That would be two things I could remove from our suitcases..... I have to find a few more I'm afraid....... I have everything but the "kitchen sink" packed.

The journal contains a lot of information including maps (it's basically a European Atlas). It does not contain much space to write a journal so you still need something to write in. It's magazine size - and gives some details of travel times betwen cities; useful phrases in French, German, Italian and Spanish; conversion charts for distances, weights, etc., and temperatures.

(If you wonder why I know this, it's because I have the journal in front of me from the tour I just finished!)

Might they have such a map journal on a Greek Tour or does it depend on the TD?

I too really like these forums...have learned so much.

I think you will get one on your Greek tour, too. I got one last year on "Grecian Fables". The Atlas does have a map of Greece and a partial map of Turkey.

Take your journal as there's not a huge amount of room for writing. Not wishing to appear negative but I much preferred the large maps which used to be provided. They were relevant to the tour rather than general smaller scale European maps. City maps would be a good idea but ...
