I have a small Nikon digtal camera ( coolpix 16). What do I need to make sure I am going to be able to use this camera? I thought I could just bring extra batteries, but I guess the battery is a very expensive type, so I probably need an adapter and plug in thingy?

Hi, it's always good to carry a spare battery (the cost is nothing compared to what you've paid for your trip)on a long overseas trip but bring along the power cord/converter to recharge your batteries while travelling. If your battery can only be charged externally then make sure you have the charger with you too. Depending on where your destinations are, you may need different power adaptor for different countries. You can easily find such information on the internet.

Have a good trip.

golfergal,

You will need an adapter(the plug in thingie), but you shouldn't need a converter as almost all (I've yet to see a new one that doesn't) battery chargers will work on US and overseas power. Make sure it is a universal charger (it will say AC100-240V 50/60HZ.

I agree it's a good idea to bring an extra battery - I would hate to be on the road and have the battery go dead.
