Last year I went on my first overseas trip to Italy with Insight. I had a wonderful time. I researched this trip for 18months.

When I came home I was lost for a few weeks, even a little depressed Frowner. I wanted to go back to Italy and just explore this beautiful country for months.

Now I have a confession - I am addicated to travel Roll Eyes. I want to go somewhere right now.

Now I am planning a trip to either Eqypt or Greece. I spend so much time researching each destination. I read all the travel advise and tour tales and admire all the pics on this board and over at TB. I research these two destinations on the internet. I order travel brochures from travel companies and they are apart of my every day reading. I buy books on Eypt and Greece. I reread my travel diary and pour over the 3000 pictures I took in Italy. I seem to breath and live travel. FrownerI want another travel adventure.

I wish I could give up my job and just travel. Wouldn't it be great to say my occupation is Traveller. Wouldnt it be great to just roam from one country to the next.

Do I have an addiction or what? Cool Does anyone else do the same? Am I weired? and if anyone is like me, does it get any easier with each trip you do? How do others survive this addication? Big Grin

I think my family and friends get tired of me talking about my trip to Italy or my travel plans to either Eqypt or Greece all the time. Travelling is now in my blood, it won't go away. What do I do? Smiler

Join the club! No, it's not just you.
Best cure, book the next one. I usually start planning my next trip on the plane ride home (and it usually includes Italy!)
Hope there's NOT a cure! Wink
Ciao

Sorry, Maureen. There is no cure Wink But you're not alone. I usually start planning my next trip on the plane ride home. And it usually includes Italy...marvelous country, isn't it?
So keep boring people with those stories and photos. They'll "get it" once they've been there!
Ciao,
Sue
Sorry for the 2nd posting...didn't think the 1st one was sent Confused

Yah I have this problem big time. I'm having a hard time with this board because I want people to post new stuff more frequently :P . I can't possibly read enough.

I know I will be a little depressed when I get back because I'm in such a travel high right now. I have been like that since I was little, my family knows it well. Usually as a little girl it involved Christmas or visiting my dad. I just always have to have something to look forward to, whether its travel or a home modification or something to keep me looking forward to the next thing that is coming my way in life. Over the next year I have quite a list of stuff going on so I hope the low that comes after traveling will quickly be filled with all the other stuff going on in life.

My husband is much more down to earth. I think he will be excited about what he saw, but he will never be where I am in terms of excitement and he probably won't get into that "travel low" after the trip. Though he has been extremely tolerant of my constant chatter about Italy Smiler .

flowers, I am sure once your husband sees Italy he will also not be able to stop talking about his visit. Italy is magical and the only problem with going once is that once is NOT enough. I agree totally with Sue Gillen Smiler

On my tour of Italy there was an American man who was on his 9th visit, most of them on tours !! He was a wealth of information about optionals and thanks to his recommendation I went to Burano, and this was a highlight of my trip Smiler

I too have the travel bug, it is very nice to catch but it is very expensive to cure Big Grin

Good Razzer Its great to know I am NORMAL Roll Eyes

Yes I was planning my next trip before I had boarded the plane for my first trip Eeker

Sue Ellen - Yep Italy is a beautiful country. I have long service leave in 7 years and am planning to just hire a car and explore this delightful country. I adore Italy.

Natalie
I have my tour tale to download on the board if I ever finish it. Big Grin I had such a wonderful time that I seem to be including to much in my trip report and its far too long. But I adored it all. The country - the TD --everything.
Natalie I see that you are only a few days from your trip. I hope you have Debra. She was such an mazing TD, and because of her I would never hestate to do another escorted tour again. You will have a great time. Its such an amazing tour. Nothing much seems to excite my hubby. I am the complete opposite.

Langers - Oh Burano was one of my fav. places in Italy. We went back to Venice for 3 days after our tour and spent a day exploring the islands of Venice. The painted houses of Burano were beautiful. We had a lovely time exploring the island. I would love to actually stay in Burano next time I go to Venice.

The travel bug is very expensive. Wish I could win Lotto or find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Big Grin I make sure now when I speak to friends and family I try not to mention Italy or travel. Because I know they all think I am a little crazy.

Allison it would be lovely to travel for a living. I would certainly be the right person for the job. I love meeting new people and seeing new places.

Yep, another addict. Be warned though, it doesn't go away. I thought if I took a couple of trips, I'd get it out of my system, but I keep adding places I must see. I usually wait a couple of months after I get back to plan my next trip - I'm too busy going through pictures. Smiler I was thinking about Greece too for this year, but I decided on Egypt and Turkey (influenced by all the talk on this board Razzer)

Maureen - we actually have Anne Kennedy as our tour director. She is mentioned only a couple times on the board but they all seemed to like her.

If your tour tale is posted then I've read it :P . I look all over the internet & the bb for new stuff to read and I just can't get my fill. If its not posted you can e-mail what you've written so far Big Grin .

My husband is a little nervous when I mentioned doing Burano on our own. He is worried about getting back to meet the group on time. But I hope if the Burano excursion and the Doges Palace are on the same day then we mostly will have the day to ourselves instead. But maybe until the tour we won't know exactly how that will work.

If my husband really wants to travel again soon then I'm sort of thinking one of the Christmas markets will be our best bet. They are less expensive, I get more time off at Christmas and it would be something different. But its sort of his call since we are definitely doing Las Vegas/Grand Canyon for our anniversary in the spring and have a wedding in NH in the summer. So whether we go international or not, travel is planned.
