For Italian Escapade - are most of the included meals (or options for that matter) buffets? If not buffet's then are you given any options?

I'm really not too picky but I do like to avoid eating ham as the "main" course. I've just read a few tour tales that mentioned ham quite a bit, had me a little worried. I grew up not eating pork due to religious reasons. Now I will eat little bits but avoid if possible.

I think I'm obsessing over this trip too much. I've read everything on here about it and now I'm starting to reread everything I find. Smiler

Breakfasts are buffets. Lunches...you're on your own. Have you heard about the Autogrills???
Included dinners often have a choice of main dishes. Optionals which include a dinner are often multi-courses so you should have no problems getting filled up! If ham is a problem, be sure to tell the Tour Director and alternatives will be arranged.
If you are expecting gourmet Italian cuisine, you're going to be disappointed. The hotels will be feeding multiple tour groups, all at the same time, so the meals will be "generic".

Thanks! We're not really expecting gourmet but just yummy food. I did a lot of research on tour companies and picked Insight because I thought there was better feedback on how good the included meals were. But overall not too picky. Just have a few issues with ham Razzer .

I'm the same with seafood. There was always choice.. and I know the TD bent over backwards to help people with menu concerns.

On Insight tours there will pretty much always be a choice of meals. On the Scotland tour I've just returned from, for example, every included meal had at least three choices of main course - generally one meat, one fish, and one vegetarian.

On my recent French tour there was no choice though there weren't that many included dinners as it was a short tour.

We just completed our first Insight Tour and were totally satisfied with the meals included (the Tour Director made sure that anyone with special needs was always taken care of.)

We also appreciated the selection options whenever we stopped at the roadside eateries.

keep an open mind to your situation and you'll do find.

Always keep in mind food is rated differently by different people. On my Insight tour (Country Roads of Austria, Bavaria etc) there was no choice at meals, and while I thought the food was fine, others complained bitterly that is was not premium standard.

I have not been on the Insight Itay tour but the Trafalgar BOI, a first class tour, and there was no choice of meals but as I love pasta I was happy because it was served at every meal Smiler The desserts were yummy too Wink

We went on the Italian Escapade tour September 2008 and the food was fabulous. We did take every optional, so virtually all our main meals were arranged for us, and they were all wonderful. We even had some lunches on the optionals and we thought they were all great. We can remember only one "hotel buffet" and there was lots of choice, we enjoyed it too.

All meals were typcially Italian, and my husband is Italian, and a very good cook, so we are very used to the choices. We love seafood, the pasta was great. I cannot remember one instance where we were offered ham. And don't forget the gelato (at every stop if possible). We had nothing to complain about. We thought it was amazing.
