I have had a couple of conflicting pieces of advice on the need for visas for Belarus and where to get them. Our TA is on holiday for another week or so, so I was wondering if anyone has had to get a Belarus visa? We have a Russian Embassy here but no consulate or embassy for Belarus.

Hi NZ Nurse

Its a couple of years since we were in Belarus (during the Northern Capitals and Russia tour) but as I recall we all gave the money to the TD in US dollars and he fixed up the visas for everyone. I have a vague recollection that we had to take passport size photos with us as well but I could be wrong about that.

You will need photos and $60....our TD collected all of this before we ever left Berlin -- check your credentials but I recall one photos for each of us - the $60 HAD to be in American $

Assume you know that you need much costlier Visas for Russia --- that must be done quite a bit before you go --- again consult tour docs for information or call Insight or your agent

Thank you also south & dukemom...

Yes I am aware of the requirements for our Russian visa thanks. We have the Russian Embassy here only 30 minutes drive away so that will be easy to organise.

Thanks again for all your help.

It actually took us quite a few weeks to get our Russian visas because they would not issue them until they had a letter from Insight confirming the hotel details where we would be stopping. Once Insight provided the letter we had the visas in a matter of days.

When we went 2 years ago we were told to have pictures but never needed them. I would have them just in case though. We got our letter from Insight from our travel agent a couple weeks after we booked our trip. You have to mail it with your passport and a form filled out.

re the belarus visa - can anyone confirm that the info is still the same - that the TD organisies the belarus visas? & can anyone advise why insight don't say that the TD organises the visa in the tour information?
