Gregor on Tour
You are right about that. My sister loves to shower in the morning and I love the long soak in bathtub at night. So that should work out.

I misspoke! Doing the independent travel we did more miles, more days, more places than any of these tours but could get up a bit later. Two or three people move faster than 40. And you just reminded me that I haven't had a vacation in years!!! LOL Roll Eyes I wouldn't trade it tho, would you?

Ladybug, one big advantage with both showering at the end of the day is that you can rinse out your washing, roll it in your towels to dry it as much as possible & have most of it dry the next morning. Doing that each night saves a build up of washing.

We put the plug in the bath while we shower, throw the dirty washing in & do some mad sort of foot shuffle dance to swirl the washing around as we shower. Saves time & energy!

Ladybug and all others. We were on a tour of Italy in 2005. The tour director said to be in the lobby by Lets say "7:45". One couple was late. Guess what? The bus left without them. They had to take a taxi in Naples to catch up to the bus. So, don't be late. When they say "7:45" that's what they mean. Better early than on time too.

We had never been on a guided tour before we did two in April/May. We had a ball on both and really enjoyed them. It was a very different sort of holiday. We saw so much of Italy and Greece in four weeks with no hassles. Having said that our next overseas trip will be on our own at our own pace. It doesn't mean we will never do a tour again it's just that we want to do it our way next time.

To Jack
Re leaving people behind I would guess that you were not on an Insight Tour when this happend. Our tour Director would never have done this and if anyone was late getting to the bus he went out of his way to find them. It never took long to do and we were on our way again.

Some people love to go on tour and other love to do their own thing. I spoke to my backpacking daughter from America this morning and she cannot wait to get on her next tour in South America so someone else can do the thinking for her. She has been away for 4 months on and off tours but she said that thinking about where to stay and what to see was making her think again about doing it for her self and she is only 23.
