Is it possible to do one's own laundry mid trip at the hotels that we're booked at, so one doesn't have to pack as much?

I bring along a little bit of detergent and do my own laundry as I travel. I buy travel socks and underwear which dry very quickly. I hand wash them in the sink, wring the water out, roll them up in a towel and wring them tight then hang them up in the bathroom. They try in a few hours.

I bring two pairs of jeans with me and wash one on two night hotel stays (and hang on balcony if there is one). The same with shorts but they usually only need one night to dry. Jeans can be "freshened" up with a steam iron if the room has one. Shirts dry quickly.

For my next tour, I'll be packing two pairs of socks, four undies, two pairs of jeans, two pairs of shorts, two or three shirts (and use souvenir t-shirt/polos for variety), one sweatshirt for the flight/cool nights and a light gortex jacket. I will also bring swimsuit and waterproof sandals for the Dead Sea.

That's pretty well it. It only takes a few minutes to do the laundry and saves me a fortune in laundry expenses (not to mention the risk of the item being lost or damaged) and saves me A LOT of room in my luggage.
