I was hoping to hear from anyone who has done the above tour as I am going to western Canada next June and am considering going with Insight.

I did an Insight tour in France in 2005.

I would be grateful for your comments/opinions on all aspects of the tour. Particularly, did you feel that you were given enough stops and photo opportunities along the way, or did you feel that you raced through that wonderful scenery seeing everything from the bus window??

Colleen Anne, I was looking at the tours, which one are you interested in? The distance between Vancouver and Calgary is 1000 km and if you don't go all the way to Calgary it is about 125 km less. Except for 1 toll road, the roads are slow and winding, I have driven between Calgary and Vancouver in 1 day and it takes 12-14 hours depending on traffic. Now I always take 2 days. I don't know how long the bus stops for, but on my recent trip I saw a T tour bus pull out from a scenic view point.
The gondola ride in Lake Louise gives you a beautiful view over lake Louise but it is very distant, not good for photography, I have only been up on it in winter skiing.
Lake Moraine is very beautiful and great for photos.
It can be hot in the Rockies in summer, in June it probably will be cooler particularly in the early morning and evenings.
Recently we have had a lot of forest fires in the interior of BC and Alberta mostly because of drought but usually it is in July and August and there is a lot of smoke and haze.
The distance between Banff and Jasper is slightly less than 300 km, a wonderful highway in the valley between 2 mountain ranges, there is one impressive climb up to the Columbia Glacier, take the tour on the glacier, I think you still get to walk on the Glacier but dress for it in layers.
There are many scenic viewpoints in the National Parks but I don't know if they can all accomodate busses.

I just remebered something about the weather, June is our rainyest month in Alberta, but our province is known as sunny Alberta. Maybe the end of June or early June would be better than the middle, but you can never tell with the weather. Early June and end of May is pretty because there is still snow on top of the mountains but it can get hazy because of the melting snow.
Actually I find early autumn, September and first week of October is very pretty, since snow has started to fall on the peaks, not in the towns and the sky is usually bright blue with not too much cloud.

Hello Colleen,
My husband and I did a similar tour but with another company G..... and really enjoyed it. The scenery is amazing and we particulary loved banff and jasper. The lakes are so beautiful and the snow capped mountains truly awesome. We did a helicopter optional over the mountains and that was the highlight of the tour for me. We found that we had lots of stops for photos and we also saw some bears with their cubs along the way which was a wonderful sight.
Cheers
Norma
