We postponed our "Best of Ireland and Scotland" 2004 tour and have booked a cruisetour to Alaska in August. We plan on taking the Insight trip in 2005. Also booked the Rockymountaineer Rail Tour from Vancouver to Calgary.

It's a great part of the world to visit. I'm particularly fond of Vancouver.

We also have been to Vancouver before as well as Victoria. We enjoyed both and are spending a weekend in Vancouver on this trip. The Rockymountaineer Rail trip was also highly recommended to us by people that took it using the Red Leaf service. They told us to book Gold Leaf service if we were going.

We will be driving a rental car from Anchorage to Fairbanks on the day prior to the cruisetour starting. Drop charge is only $20.00

General Max,
I am sure you will enjoy your Rocky Mountaineer Rail trip. The scenery from Vancouver to Calgary is spectacular. I think the Rockies are as spectacular as the Swiss Alps. The scenery is breathtaking and hopefully you will see a lot of wildlife along the way. The Alaskan Cruise sounds wonderful too, although coming from the middle of Canada where we have been living in a deep freeze for the last week or so does not make me want to visit Alaska any too soon. Will you be stopping in Banff at all?
Cheers,
Diane

Hi Diane. Thanks for your comments. The Train does stop in Banff but I think it is just to pick up passengers for the continuing trip to Calgary. We would like to spend more time in that area but we are already doing a lot on our three week trip.

General Max,
Too bad that you will not be visiting Banff. It is very beautiful and the view from Sulphur Mountain is spectacular. It's only an hour or so away from Calgary.

We arrive in Calgary at 9:00 PM and have a United Airlines flight at 8:00 AM the following morning. We have no time to go back to see Sulphur mountain, Diane. But this gives us a good excuse to come back in the future when I am retired.

Has anyone been to Denali Park? How do you make wilderness tour bus reservations?

Max- I think the tours start on May 15, but I could be wrong.

Phone 1-800-276-7234, that's the number for the Denali Park Wilderness Tour. It's about a 6-8 hour tour and I think it's in the $50.00 range.
