Max... Could it be because Canada charges extra high visa fees for people from Turkey visiting Canada? Smiler

Cat's I don't think so. Last year I googled the fees charged and I think the US charged more than the Canadians. I think it is because our government several years ago recognized the Armenian Massacre, which is a sore point for the Turks. I think your gov't did too last Oct whan I was there. Luckily I have a second passport which I used for entry and only paid US$20.

Hi General Max.

Not yet. We have paid a pre-registration deposit that is fully refundable if we cancel or change, but we are definitely going. I've been a bit quiet lately as the PC died. I have bit the bullet, an lashed out finally, and moved away from PC's to an Apple iMac, which I am still learning to drive! I bought the iMac because it came loaded with all the Software that I need to edit my HD digital travel movies with vs a PC, whereas the PC cost the same, and then I still had to purchase the appropriate software on top the PC cost, so the Apple was so much cheaper for the same configuration. Back to Canada, we are looking at leaving Oz mid May 2009, and spending time in San Fran, then up to Vancouver and undertaking a tour, but not with Insight. Their Itineary worst luck is not want we want to do.

Marie...

This is what we have to pay for a visa for Turkey, which is $20.

"ENTRY/EXIT REQUIREMENTS: A passport and visa are required. Currently, holders of all types of passports can purchase a 90-day sticker visa at the port of entry for $20 cash if they are traveling to Turkey as tourists."

Max...

Visas are the same price - $20. Wink

Turkey should charge more for people from Florida. Smiler Smiler Smiler

Cat, $20 US is what we paid on September 16, 2007 at the Istanbul Airport.

The Turks should have to pay what we pay for hurricane insurance ----if you can get it----here in florida. Smiler Smiler Smiler

Sorry I meant to say I have passport from another country as I have dual citizenship. The fee for my other passport was $20, with my Canadian one it would have been US$ 60.

You wouldn't be trying to get back on topic would you? We are leaving on the Alaska Marine Lines ferry from Bellingham for Haines AK on Friday.

Iggy, be sure to do a cruisetour so you get a taste of both the Alaskan coast and ports as well as the interior of Alaska. Denali Park is outstanding. We were on Holland America Lines.

Cheers
