I believe the Alaska cruise with Insight is on Princess Cruise lines. They are an excellent cruisetour company in Alaska. So is Holland America.

Yes, Holland America offers about 25 cruisetours to Alaska. The cruisetours vary in length from 10days to about 18 days and usually include a 7 day cruise. You can do a northbound or southbound cruise. Departure cities are Vancouver BC and Seward, Alaska.

We did a 14 day cruisetour in 2004 starting with a 7 day land tour in Alaska followed by the 7 day cruise southbound cruise from Seward. We visited Fairbanks, Denali Park, Anchorage and Alyeska Ski Resort.

The cost then was about $7200 for two people but we had a category S deluxe verandah suite. Be sure to book a balcony cabin on the cruise.

I believe what Insight offers is with Princess Cruise lines. Both Princess and Holland America are owned by Carnival and each offers cruisetours to Alaska. They both are well known in Alaska and do a very good job up there.

Hi there TCpl, we returned to Oz in July from Alaska. We just loved the cruise, HA Zuiderdam. The meals were delightful, not large but gourmet. The 9th floor was a 24/7 snacks area for later. If in towns we ate lunch out but otherwise on board the ship.Staff were just gorgeous and made us feel we were the only passengers that mattered. Have a ball. Joanne

Hi Ken & Angela, I must admit-my first iceberg!
I think the one thing we both oohed at the most was the train trip from Skagway to the Yukon. 3 or so hours, book with the cruise line The White Pass & Yukon train it will be worth your while. We travelled in June and needed coats & beanies in most ports.Rained in Juneau(cold) Skagway & Ketchikan not too bad. Joanne

Don't expect any 5 star hotels in Alaska. The only one that does come close is the Alyeska Ski Resort in Girdwood.

Captain Cooks in Anchorage is a great hotel too.

I would recommend Holland America over the Princess cruises. The Indonesian and Philapino crew members are outstanding.

TO: Gen Max & KEZNJO

Although this msg is a bit tardy, we highly appreciated your reply Posts to our inquiry regarding our plans for travel to Alaska.

KEZNJO: Is HA Zuiderdam the name of the vessel, and was your reference to the 9th floor intended to mean the 9th passenger cabin level, from the keel upwards?

Also, did the White Pass and Yukon train line offer food and beverages (the "mixed" kind)??

We look forward to your further INSIGHT.. Smiler

Cheers.....
