Although the BB tour is still 3 weeks away, I should however make you aware there is a labour strike underway impacting operations at Frankfurt Airport:

  • Lufthansa - German trade union (ver.di) strike at Lufthansa
  • Air Canada - Customers travelling to and from Frankfurt and Munich, Germany
  • Bloomberg - Lufthansa Strike to Focus on Frankfurt and Hamburg
  • Business Week - Lufthansa Unperturbed by Strike

Hopefully, the dispute will have been settled by the time we start arriving into Frankfurt.

Hopefully it will be settled, but just to be on the safe side we are arriving by train. Wink

Oh dear, we arrive there on August 8th as we transit to Madrid.

I'm sure it won't drag on for that long. Will it???????

Tuffet, I totally agree with Dragon's comment re thinking positive about whether the strike will end.

I've been on the receiving end of such things twice already; the first time my parents and I were at the Manila International Airport with our fingers crossed, hoping the Philippine Airlines pilot strike was truly over, so that our flight to Bali was a go, and it was.

The second time, my parents and I were in London waiting for a European Grandeur to start, and there was a strike in Calais. Given we flew in from the Philippines...the rosaries Ma said to make sure we got going! And boy did we ever go - situation resolved the day before we were set to leave London, and the trip was one of the best ever in my life.

Here's hoping all will go well with you on this trip! I so wish I could be there too.

No problems about delays in the airport. There's nothing you can do about the situation anyway, & getting het up just ruins your holiday.

I've had a few 6 hour waits in airports & I find them a great time for "people watching." You see such a wide range of nationalities & such a variety of emotions & reactions that its a good place to start plotting a story to write.

So no worries - strike or no strike - we'll deal with it. Our Spain tour doesn't start until the 8th, so we can catch a train if necessary.
