For me, personally, I had no problems with any of the hotel rooms at any of the hotels. Had I been a "larger" person, I might have had a problem entering the bathroom of my room at the Lindenwirt BUT the room itself was fine and the hotel location is so central.
As for next year, I'm planning on staying at home BUT in 2010 I'm thinking CR of France and another tour. Haven't decided what other tour, just yet.

I'm with Pauline on this -- I had no problem with the rooms at any of the hotels, and the hotels were generally within walking distance of town centres (aside from Munich). As for the Lindenwirt, staying near the Drosselstrasse in Rudesheim was an opportunity not to be missed! And none of us were assigned to the wine barrel rooms - now that would have been an experience! Eeker

I just knew I shouldn't complain about Rudesheim but the roach was just too much. Glad you were all happy.

Good to have been with you. Happy traveling in the future! I'm too old for these tours and won't be with you on another one.

Sorry to hear that you won't be travelling with us again, September. It was nice to meet you.

BTW, I recall waking up eye-to-eye with a lizard in a hotel in Costa Rica -- I would cheerfully have traded it for your roach!

Hotel Lindenwirt certainly had smaller rooms in comparison to the other hotels used earlier in the tour. According to TripAdvisor, Hotel Lindenwirt was ranked #4 for the Rüdesheim area. From reviewing the higher ranked hotels in the Rüdesheim area, they are all smaller hotels (i.e. less than 40 rooms); whereas Hotel Lindenwirt had 100 rooms. As such, I'm fairly certain neither of them would be able to accomodate a tour group. When comparing hotels, you need to take into consideration of the area as Rüdesheim would not have a Sheraton or equivalent-like hotel. To me, it sounds like Insight's accomodation choices for Rüdesheim were limited.

Our team in our special tours department who set it all up were diligent in making sure it all went to plan and from comments so far they did a great job! I know Claus and Bernd also hugely enjoyed their experiences with you all.
We are very grateful for your participation in this tour, for your good humour and indeed for your loyalty to Insight.
There is no doubt in my mind that your positive feedback dictates that we should should something similar again in 2009 - perhaps to an entirely different destination.
I'm sure you all have views, so we will watch with interest!
We have a whole array of new and tempting itineraries almost ready for our 2009 product launch (mid-October 2008) so maybe you'll see something there that inspires!
My best wishes and thanks to you all,
Safe travels,
John

There were rumours circulating around that you would make a special appearance somewhere during the tour .... but alas it didn't happen .... Frowner

I have to say those wine barrel rooms actually looked appealing since they weren't surrounding by restaurants like my room. Alas, they were all occupied.
